Day 26: Black and White Jungle

4 more outfits to go! Today I went with simplicity in colors -- your classic black and white. I realized that I've only worn this sweater dress once so far in the remix, so I may capitalize on it one more time this week. Yay!

Have you ever had a day so filled with meetings that you could barely stop to breathe? Today was that kind of day for me. I had 15 minutes to get lunch and then it was non stop from topic to topic to topic. My head is spinning readers, quite literally! (Well, not exorcist style or anything.) This is one of the reasons I like blogging. It's a good way to wind down and do something productive that doesn't feel like work. And isn't that what you want all of your hobbies and ventures to feel like?

The BF has taken camera control today, so we have some interesting pictures. I'm really fond of how the greenery of the environment really comes through with my neutral outfit.

I love my jumping pictures, yes I do!  That's a wrap, thanks for stopping by!  See ya tomorrow.

Day 25: Rainbow Brite

Hello!  I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend.  Sorry for the missed posting day, but if you've been following my twitter or reading between the lines of my recent posts, I was snowboarding yesterday.  It was a wonderful day of powder up in Tahoe and I couldn't have been more pleased with the day.  Well.  Other than a certain scratchiness in the back of my throat.  Still.  Very much worth it.

Today was less fun, unfortunately.  My friends and I had a work party, which basically spending time on the weekend working, but compensating by calling it a party.  We did, however, end the day with a bowl of ramen, so all was not lost.

Outfit Details
Top: Anthropologie Budes & Bunches Top
Cardigan: Anthropologie High Speed Cardigan
Jeans: J Crew Toothpick Ankle Jeans
Shoes: Anthropologie Diamond Stitch Skimmers
Scarf: Gift from Europe

I'm officially getting incredibly antsy to wear the other articles of clothing in my closet.  I mistakenly thought I already did Day 25, so I was sad when I found out I didn't.   I'm starting to run out of ideas, and to be honest, I started today not liking my outfit.  It grew on me eventually -- this cardigan always reminds me of some sort of rainbow, which makes me feel happier each time I wear it.  Happy face!

I'm almost done with my Nina Garcia books!  As soon as I get a weekend to take some notes and write some outlines, I will be sharing some gems of advice with a touch of my own personal flare.

That wraps up today.  Thanks for stopping by, see ya tomorrow!

Day 24: Experimentation Time

Whew, it's been quite the week readers.  I came back from vacation, work was a little overwhelming, the BF got sick.  I'm entirely glad that it's the weekend.

It is freaking COLD today.  A lot of my pictures ended up with me making a frowny face because I was literally freezing without a jacket.  I also woke up late today and had to go with a ponytail/glasses type deal for work.  I'm going to pretend it exudes a certain fashion forwardness instead of lazy sleepiness.  Is it working?

Outfit Details
Cardigan: J Crew Katelyn Ruffle Cardigan
Dress: Anthropologie Fifth Form Shift
Boots: Anthropologie Pebbled & Primped Boots
Scarf: Gift from Thailand
Glasses: Kate Spade

I started doing some experimentation with the camera, which you'll see in the next couple snaps below.  It's not the best execution ever, but I was trying to take pictures with a focus on the foreground (see the leaves in the lower right corner?) and putting myself in the background.  I really like the fuzzed out effect with a bold outfit.   I'll definitely be trying this again sometime.

Above is a jumping picture to celebrate my camera experimentation.  I like the goofy face.  It gives...um.. character.

Thanks for stopping by, see ya tomorrow!

Day 23: And Now For Something Different

It's raining here.  Which means...it's snowing in Tahoe!  Readers, I'm terribly excited about my day trip to Kirkwood on Saturday, mostly because I love snowboarding and powder.  And if I'm super lucky, there will still be some powder to ride when I get there this weekend.  I'm beside myself with excitement.

Today was a casual kind of day.  I was playing with some of the angles of my camera and took a couple of pictures on the floor.  What do you think?

Outfit Details
Blazer: H&M
Top: Anthropologie Buds & Bunches Top
Pants: Gap 1969 Skinny Ankle Jeans
Shoes: Anthropologie Diamond Stitch Skimmers
Scarf: Anthropologie

I rather like the effect, don't you?  Sorry for the indoor pictures, I didn't make it out of work today till 6:30 and it was already dark.  Though with the rain, I don't know if I would have braved my camera getting water damage.  Ah well.

I totally left some delicious stew in the slow cooker for about 18 hours and it's just about ready, so off to eat I go!  (I know I keep talking about food in these posts, but what can I say?  I write these up around dinner time.)

Thanks for stopping by, see ya tomorrow!

Day 22: Beef Short Ribs

I didn't know what to name this post, so I named it in honor of my dinner.  Hungry?  I am.

Anyway, It's not like I wore this shirt on Monday or anything.  Oh wait, yes I did.  But it was under a cardigan so it doesn't count, right?  Kinda like underwear....

In any case, I decided to mix it up with a brown skirt and black boots.  Mostly because I'm cool like that.  I'm feeling a little snarky today, so please bear with me.

Outfit Details
Top: Target Tucker for Target
Skirt: J Crew Cord Pencil Skirt
Belt: Anthropologie
Boots: Anthropologie Miss Albright Pebbled and Primped Boots
Sweatercoat: Anthropologie Sleeping on Snow Fisherman's Companion Sweater Coat

I'm going to start trying to include my outerwear in my outfits, at least until the weather gets warmer when I won't need a jacket anymore.  Could we call not wearing a jacket jacket-naked?  Maybe not.  This door is actually the other side of my blue door.  Neat, huh?  I ended up taking pictures this morning before i left the house because I knew I'd be home after dark.  Sorry my backpack and the BF's shoes made some cameos.  I'll have to move stuff around next time.
I made a trip to the Asian market today so we're having Korean style beef short ribs in the to look for: Style household.  I'm so excited!

Thanks for stopping by, see ya tomorrow!

Day 21: Minty Tweed

Woo! On the last third of 30 for 30.  Nine more outfits to go -- and I really can't wait.  Today was a back to work day, which means -- no productive work to be done because you have to play catch up day.  But cie la vie, right?  So it's blogging, another round of Borders and a bit of relaxation.

Outfit Details
Top: Anthropologie Odille Catmint Blouse
Skirt: Anthropologie Tabitha Avant-Tweed Skirt
Tights: Gap
Shoes: Target Xhilaration Taki Mary Jane Pumps
Scarf: Old Navy
Coat: J Crew Boyfriend Jacket

Mint and Silver actually go really well together, and I'd never thought to put them together till I was limited in wardrobe.  How fun is that -- having some sort of learning experience :D.  I also added my coat to this outfit for your enjoyment.
That's all I've got.  Thanks for stopping by, see ya tomorrow!

30 for 30 Recap: Days 11-20

Two thirds of the way through readers!  I'm starting to itch for the rest of the pieces in my closet, so I'm hoping that I can hold out :).  Here's the last 10 outfits I've worn:

Pretty solid variety, if I can pat myself on the back :).  Final stretch, here we go!

Thanks for stopping by, see ya later!

Day 20: Orange You Glad?

Happy Presidents Day!  For all you lucky people that got the day off -- congrats and I hope you had a good time.  For all the people that didn't have the day off -- condolences.  For all the people that didn't have the day off but got sick and took it off anyway -- welcome to my world.  I spent most of the day today resting because, apparently, I needed to recover from the vacation that I spent most of the time resting during.  How bizarre is that?  So, orange today is for the clothes I'm wearing and the fruit I'm using to speed recovery.

Still, this is one of the better sick days I could have had -- I felt a little better in the afternoon and wanted soup, so the BF (who did have the day off) and I got the soup and salad combo at Olive Garden.  Afterwards we went to Borders and Nordstrom Rack, where I made some serious scores.  But first! Pictures:

Pants: The Limited Exact Stretch Flare
Shoes: Anthropologie Miss Albright Renaesslaer T-Straps

Oh, and a creeper one of my BF trying to be funny.

Now, about my serious scores.  Borders was closing down in our area and I managed to get a whole bunch of technical books and some fashion books by Nina Garcia from Elle about developing style.  Uh, hello -- that's what this blog is about!  So I'll read them and share my thoughts and inspirations with you fine people.  At Nordstrom Rack, my BF told me that for being so good on 30 for 30, he wanted to buy me a present if I found something good.  Well, I must have been a good girl, because I managed to get a silk Trina Turk dress and a Michael Kors top for -- dun dun dun -- a total of $33!  Great scott readers, I must have been a good girl.  You'll be sure to see them in an outfit after this 30 for 30 run is over, but for now, they are fated to my closet.  Don't I have the best BF in the world readers?  I sure think so.

Well, that's that.  Thanks for stopping by, see ya tomorrow!

Fitting Room Reviews: Shirts, Skirts, Tops and Dresses

I'm happy to bring another round of Anthropologie fitting room reviews for you! Again, I typically wear sizes 2/4/27/XS/S/32C. Happy reading!

Hearts Desire Sweater, Yoon, $98, S

This is a sweater by a brand I’ve never heard of.   I’m wearing an XS and the cardi fits TTS.  The closures are snaps and the color translates more greenish than a true mustard yellow in person. The good: I like the heart details and the color, though I already have a cardigan very close to this shade.  The not so good: The material feels a little rough for me my taste.  I will be passing on this one, but if you’re looking for a good, short to mid length mustard sweater, give this one a shot.

AG Stevie Ankle, AG, $158, 27

I have been looking for black skinny jeans for a fair bit now and I’m really liking these.  I am wearing a size 27 here.  The good: Petites rejoice! The 27.75 inseam will help you wear these with flats without dragging your hems on the ground.  They are stretchy and forgiving and aren’t a true black – there’s a little bit of intentional fading going on.  The not so good: If you’re taller, these may be an issue.  But, I suspect these are supposed to graze the average lady’s ankles, so you may be able to get some Audrey Hepburn styling going on.  Come to think of it, maybe that doesn’t fit in the not-so-good category.  Ah well.  Definitely wishlisted.  Maybe take these home with my birthday discount.

Gathering Blossoms Top, Edme & Esyllte, $118, 4

This happily patterned number fits TTS and is side zip.  I am wearing a size 2 in these pictures.  The good: Form fitting, bold pattern, nicely placed ruffles.  The not so good: I wish the material was actual silk.  If it was, I would probably be ALL. OVER. THIS.  As it stands, it’s wishlisted for sale consideration.

Rockaby Tunic, Odille, $78, XS

Would it be ridiculous if I got this AND the Odille shirt dress in the same color?  Given the fact that I do have a navy tunic already, probably.  /sigh.  I am wearing a size 2 and it fits TTS.  The good: Very solid workhorse type tunic.  Could be worn with pants, leggings, belted with a skirt, belted on its own and with all types of jewelry and shoes.  And pockets!  I love pockets, so the giant ones here are awesome.  The not so good:  The tunic barely covers my behind, which is good for me.  For anyone a little taller (and it isn’t hard), you may have issues with where the shirt falls.  Definitely try on, kay?  Wishlisted for second cuts.

Bargello Tank, Dream Daily, $118, XS

I am wearing an XS in this top and it fits TTS.  The good: The pattern is awesome and I love the little tie neck.  The not so good: The model shot made me believe this shirt was a tad longer than it really is.  As it stands, the length is awkward for me combined with the flowiness.  It would look good tucked into a skirt, but left untucked I’m just not sure.  This one just may be a pass for me, as much as I would hate to admit it.

These see-through shapeless sweaters aren’t really doing anything for my petite figure.  /sigh.  This is an XS sweater and fits TTS to a little large.  The good: The color’s pretty and the sweater is lightweight enough to transition from winter with a little extra layering to spring/summer as a cover up.  The not so good: I worry about the difficulty caring for this, and as I mentioned earlier, it dwarfs my petite frame.  If you are taller or perhaps a little shapelier in the hips, this may work for you (belt it! Dooooo it).  This will be a pass for me though.

Fantastic Fields Skirt, Moulinette Seours, $88, 4

This boldly printed skirt will surely provide you the nice pop of color you’ve been looking for.  It does fit pretty small -  this is a size 4 here and I couldn’t even zip it up!  I might need to size up to a 6 or even an 8 if I decide to go for this skirt.  Make sure you try it on!  The good: Great colors, nice shape.  Very solid pencil skirt that would go with a lot of tops.  The not so good: Runs small (sad, sad self esteem).  I have a lot of pencil skirts, so I don’t know if I will be going for this one, but it is wishlisted for second cuts.

Blooming Goldenrod Dress, Edme & Esyllte, $138, 4

I’m not sure what’s wrong with me, because this is totally a dress that I would normally want and want BAD, but it’s not really doing it for me.  This cute, size 4 Edme and Esyllte number fits TTS, though the length is a little long for my frame.  The good; fabulous colors with the blue, blue-gray and yellow.  The wide straps make it easy to hide your bra straps.  The not so good: It's a tad long for me.  Also – why the sash when there’s already a contrasting waistband?  Maybe that’s why I’m having trouble with it.  I may come back and try it on with a maroon see through sweater a la the Safari outfit set though.  I’m also fairly certain I tied the sash t he wrong way.  It’s probably supposed to be on the back.  Wishlisted for sale consideration.

Glanz Dress, Tabitha, $158, 4

I think Tabitha’s going to be one of my favorite brands at Anthro this year.  Similar to the Pom Flower Shift, this dress has the canvas or burlap bag quality to it, but no worries – it isn’t itchy or anything!  I’m wearing a size 4, and I would say this fits TTS.  The good: I’m loving all the Anthro colors this season!  The Kelly green and sky blue are great with the off white, and I’m digging the brown waistband.  The length is perfect for me.  The not so good: I feel like my legs are short, though I think that’s my shoes/socks combo and not the dress itself.  Wishlisted for sale consideration, though if I had to choose, I would go for the Pom Flower shift.

Of-The-Ages Pullover, Moth, $88, XS

And the shapeless sweater pattern continues.  But wait!  I like this sweater!  I am wearing an XS and it fits TTS.  The good:  I love the rich orange of this sweater and there is some definite shape to it, which is the difference between this sweater and the others in this review.  I actually like the short sleeves (I get hot easily) and I can see a lot of potential for layering over short sleeve shirts, long sleeve skirts, dresses….  The not so good: Again, I worry about the care of this sweater with all the holes and details.  Dry cleaning bills make me weary.  Wishlisted for sale time, maaaybe for my birthday haul.

That's it for today.  Thanks for stopping by!
