Day 15: Old Times

This outfit makes me feel like I should be sunning in a nice park with some ladies that lunch.  Maybe it's the hat.  Or the brocade cardigan.  Or the fact that I'm standing in a window full of sunlight.  Who knows? This cardi is a funny thing because I keep telling myself that I hate it.  I mean the faded out flowers, the gold interwoven thread -- it screams old lady.  And then I put it on.  And it's like magic with its fit and ability to make things posh.  You've won again Dwarf Quince Cardi.  I'll guess I'll keep you until the next time I want to give you up.  And I'll wear you again and like you.  It's like a relationship.  /cough.  I'm kidding, really.

Well, halfway there!  I will be posting a "Why I Remix" post in the near future -- because it's no fun doing something unless there's some reasoning behind it.
Thanks for stopping by, see ya tomorrow!

Days 13-14: Like with Like

Lucky you, you get double outfits today!  I've been working from home the past week trying to meet a major deadline, and let me tell you, it's HARD.  At the office, the only distraction I have is my smart phone.  At home, I can be distracted by my personal laptop, my TV, my cats, that piece of dust in the corner.  Not to mention I don't have that nice delineation between my place of work and my place of rest.  It's so CONFUSING! /cue crazy eyes.

These last two days have been a kindergartner's exercise in matching.  Yesterday I wore lace with lace and today I wore stripes with stripes.  Mind-boggling, I know.  Also, my cats decided to deign themselves with more cameos, so enjoy that!

You may have noticed that I've been wearing a lot of jewelry from the Philippines.  That's because my mom is the bestest and brings me back amazing beaded and leather jewelry.  So you'll probably see them more on this blog -- they're great for summer!
I'm going to stop promising that I'll be caught up -- especially since I'm going to Canada on Friday.  So I'll just say -- thanks for stopping by!

Days 11-12: Hustle Bustle

I suppose I spoke too soon when I said I was caught up.  You see, this past weekend was the wedding of one of my oldest, oldest friends (19 years? Eeks!).  I was a bridesmaid, and naturally got swept up in the before, during and after parties and prep.  So here I am, yet again, fighting to get back up to speed.

Day 11: Mani Pedis -- My mom and I went through the pre-wedding beauty rituals (tortures?!) this day.  I got my eyebrows threaded, which always makes me tear up, and we got manicures and pedicures.  I also am debuting this amazing J Crew silk driving scarf -- I love the retro orangey ness of it! My cats seem to want to sneak into these days' pictures.  This one is Bastet, and she normally doesn't look that evil.

Day 12: Dress it Up - This was wedding rehearsal day and I wore this to the chapel and a local Mexican restaurant.  It was pretty hilarious because the next day a bunch of us got sick a la the movie Bridesmaids.  Uncomfortable yes, but generally a fun thing (yes, I'm sadistic) to look a back on.  You can see Robin in the corner of some of these pictures sniffing shoes.

Man, 30 for 30 is a lot harder when it's warm out.  I totally relied on layering the first time around and it's not working as well now.  I'll have a couple more days worth soon.  Thanks for stopping by!

Days 9-10: Catching Up on Sleep

It's been a crazy few days friends.  As you probably know, I landed in Chicago for a friend's wedding that's coming up on Saturday.  I ended up catching an early 7am flight on Virgin Airlines (that airline's got it going ooooon!), which means I woke up at 4am to have enough time to get ready and drive to the airport.  My mom needed to pick up her dress for the wedding, so after feeding her starving daughter, we ended up hanging out at Woodfield Mall for a good 4-5 hours. I find out shortly after we get home, that my BF needs a ride home from the airport (he's from here too, and yes, he was on a different flight) because his flight was delayed from arriving at midnight to, oh, 2:20am.  As his sister has 2 under 5 year old children, and his BIL left for work at that time, they could no longer get him  Oh happy day, right?  I did get a blog post out of it last night though, so at least you win!

Yesterday's crazy leaked into today because I needed to get BF to his sisters, meet my girlfriends for lunch, and then make it home in time for a work meeting that couldn't wait till next week.  Theeeen, I took a 3 hour nap.  Hence the bedhead  completely intentional "devil may care sexy hair".

This is (hopefully) the last catch up post.  Here's what I ended up wearing during my travel day yesterday:

Air Cruising
Outfit DetailsTop: Anthropologie
Leggings: Express
Shoes: Anthropologie Diamond Stitch Skimmers
Scarf: Twenty8Twelve
Belt: Anthropologie
Glasses: Kate Spade

I'm using the family computer to edit the photos, which is why the sizes aren't consistent. I'm also back to using my point and shoot camera because the BF has our DSLR.  Yay for red eye!

And today's more put together outfit:

Woo!  A third of the way through.  And it just flew on by!  Well, I'm off to get myself some foodage and then will be meeting some old friends at a local bar.  Thanks for stopping by, see ya tomorrow!

30 for 30 Remix Catch up: Days 6-8

And here the next set of catch-up 30 for 30 outfits!  And yes, I did indeed wear the same skirt 2 days in a row.  Gasp!  But such is the life of a limited closet, right?  I am now back in my hometown in the Chicagoland area for an old friend's wedding, and I'm super excited!  Wedding season for most folks starts around the mid-twenties and continues for...well, I'm not sure, my wedding season hasn't quite ended yet :).  I'm a bridesmaid this time around (you got a sneak peek of the dress if you read this post), which is always a good time.  Still, it's been a few years since I've been to a wedding where I picked my own dress, so I'm looking forward to when I can be a guest at the reception, pick my outfit and do that whole eat, drink and be merry thing.

Anyway, on with the outfits!

Day 6: Dotted Apples -- a nice, bright, fun outfit.  I love this shirt with its apple print.

And finally, I have to do some admitted 30 for 30 item swaps.  I haven't yet worn these items so I think it will be ok, but essentially -- two of the items were supposed to come new and didn't end up working out and one of them had a stain accident.  Soooo...here are the replacements:

The Anthropologie Vappu Dress instead of the Alice + Olivia Danni Dress

The Anthropologie Amhara Skirt instead of the Old Navy Yellow Skirt
The J Crew Eyelet Short (in grey, not black) instead of the Anthropologie Undisclosed Stitch Shorts

Hope you'll forgive me for the mid-remix item swaps!  Stay tuned for more great outfits :D.  Thanks for stopping by, see ya tomorrow!

Days 3-5: Playing Catch Up

Oh blog, how I've missed you.  As you know, I had a heck of a time last week between work and soccer camp trying not to be completely exhausted.  Would you believe I spent the last hour recreating every outfit I wore between last Tuesday and today?  Well I did, and you will be getting the first half right now!  I definitely didn't give up on 30 for 30, so here we go:

Where has the Thessa gone?

Hi all!  I know I haven't posted the last few days.  That soccer camp I was talking about on Tuesday?  It was kicking my butt all around town, and I've been exhausted when I got home.  Combine that with an increased workload, and there goes all my blogging time.  Funnily enough, I HAVE continued my 30 for 30, so I do have outfits for days 3, 4, and 5.  I will be putting the outfits on again and taking snaps for all y'all this weekend.

Thanks for your patience!  I should have a real post tomorrow!

Day 2: Lemon and Tangerine

Alright folks.  This week is admittedly going to be a short post kind of week.  I've taken on 2 hours of soccer camp every day Monday to Friday after work which leaves me pleased with myself, but overall exhausted.  Work's also picked up a bit (isn't that always how it is?), not helping all that much.  But! I've committed to this blog and 30 for 30, so here's my Day 2.  It's very bright and happy, which typically helps when I'm trying to pick up my mood.

As you can see, I have some killer dance moves.

I love this jeans/wedge combo because they make me soooooo tall.  I'm eye level with my BF!  It's totally another confidence booster, which I think I'm going to need this week.

Well, short and sweet.  Thanks for stopping by, see ya tomorrow!

Day 1: Hidden Lace

And here we go again!  Back in the game for a new 30 for 30 Challenge.  I actually had to go for a slightly more creative look for the first day because the lace challenge for Everybody, Everywhere is tomorrow.  The only match up with the lace top in my 30 that I liked was with this polka dotted green skirt.  Well, I already did those pieces together here, so I had step it up a notch and do something a little different.  This layered look is what I ended up going with.

I think that a summer 30 for 30 challenge is going to be interesting because there's going to be less opportunity to use layering as a outfit making crutch.  I'm going to have to step up the accessories and play with tucking and untucking various pieces.   I love this challenge because it forces me to be creative -- wish me luck!

Joining the 30 for 30 challenge? I'd love to see what you come up with!  Leave me a comment with your blog link and I'd be happy to follow.

Thanks for stopping by, see you tomorrow!
