Treasure Island Flea Market

It was a busy busy weekend.  Sunday I went with one of my friends and the BF to the Treasure Island Flea Market.  It was the first weekend of the event, but it was a beautiful day.  I've never been to Treasure Island before, which is a small island off of San Francisco that can be reached via the Bay Bridge.  The views were so amazing!  Here are some shots we took throughout the day:

Giant Lady Statue -- look how cool in front of the Bay Bridge!

We had an incredibly messy waffle with honey.  Have you ever had a dough waffle?  Amazing.
Eating a sample of giant candy apples.

Checking out some flea market merch.

Treasure Island used to be a Naval base -- here is a one of the old residence halls.

The view from the island was so great! I only wish it wasn't foggy out.

Our admission into the first TI Flea Market got us 2 free wine tastings at the San Francisco Winery.  The wines weren't all that great, but who can pass up free wine?  I also loved the decor inside.  Check it out:

OOTD: Blazing

Have you ever wished that you could do something and, once given the opportunity, just didn't?  Whether it's big -- find a new job, move to a new place, decide to propose -- or small -- take a random sick day when you aren't sick, take that language class, run a marathon, things sometimes get in the way.  Many times it's just getting sucked into the daily routine of life.  You know, get up, eat breakfast, go to work, come home, start dinner, work out, eat dinner, watch TV, go to bed.  Other times, it's pure laziness.  Today, I actually was able to leave work early because of a doctor's appointment, and was fully intending to go to a coffee shop to work on my blog, personal errands, and whathaveyou afterwards.  I've always said I LOVE going to coffee shops when I don't have to do "real" work with a "real" deadline.  Well, 3 hours later, and I was still sitting in my room, folding laundry.  Well you know what readers?  I finally got off my tushie, and here I am.  Finally at my local Starbucks.  And now that I'm here, I'm loving it.

Yes, my hair is in the messy bun again.  I rather like it -- it shakes up my "usual" hair routine.  I'm also wearing a blazer (Duh).  You know, I have an affinity to blazers in concept.  But they always seem to fit strangely when I get them on and end up back in my closet before I leave the house.  I'm not sure what it is.  I finally invested in a really good one from J Crew (on sale, but still! whew!), and I'm digging the pinstripe.  Do you have pieces of clothing that you love in concept but have a hard time wearing?  Tell me I'm not the only crazy one.
This look is great because it looks more summery, but it still keeps me warm as the Bay Area barely hits 70 degrees day to day.  I keep seeing bright pops of color and lots of shorts in magazines and online, and I can't wait till it's warm enough here for me to wear those things too.  Come ooooon summer!

Hope you all have something great planned for the holiday weekend!  Thanks for stopping by, see ya tomorrow!

OOTD: Wednesday at Five

I was a little unsure about my outfit today, hence the double outfits.  This post is dedicate to the Friday at Five Heels.  They're super cute with their penny loafer front and they're candy cane heels.  It's perfect from going from work to play!  The first outfit is a definite prim proper work outfit and the second is a kick back and chill out kind of outfit.  I also changed up my make up and hair between the two looks.

I changed into crops after I got home and threw on a red lip.  I also tried a new hair do -- via Keiko Lynn's  Messy Bun tutorial.  My hair hasn't really been long enough for a good while.  Even though I don't have Keiko Lynn's amazing massive amount of hair, I think it's pretty cute, don't you?  Check it out!

And finally, a closer look at the shoes themselves.  Look how awesome they are!  The heel and the buttons are cute and the heel height won't bust you up walking around all day.

Fitting Room Reviews: Anthro Dresses

Hi there!  Here's another small set of fitting room reviews for some of the Antho dresses on the floor.  Take a look and hopefully you'll find them helpful!

Backswept Dress

Backswept Dress, Corey Lynn Calter, $268, 2
For me, this dress was good in concept.  I love bright, bold prints, and it had a nice, interesting back. The material is nice and silky also.  The good pretty much ends there for me.  Corey Lynn Calter makes some beautiful pieces, but they must not be for my body type.  The skirt is too long for my taste, and even at a size 2, it seems to be too big.  And the price?  A little too rich for my blood.  This is a pass for me, but taller ladies will probably look amazing in this dress.

Back View Dress

Back View Dress, Ranna Gill, $168, S
Another bold print, with a nice drape and a well defined waist.  I love the sleeves on this and the deep V without being TOO deep.  I probably would want to try an XS to see if I can get a slightly shorter hemline.  Still, the polyester is so heavy!  That along with the color scheme just doesn’t scream summer to me.  I’m struggling with this one.  This fits TTS to a little small, so you may want to consider sizing up.  This dress is a pass for me.

Chartreuse Shoots Dress

Chartreuse Shoots Dress, Moulinette Seours, $168, 4
Oh hello, cuteness! I love a good yellow, and this dress does not disappoint.  All the things I love about Anthropologie are in this dress.  The cute little details – the black trim along the collar and the sleeves, the silky material, the tie around the back, the fact that there are sleeves!  It’s a touch long for my taste (I like my dresses just above the knees), but it does hit just below the knee so it’s workable.  The only catch – I have too many dresses that are similar to this one so….it’s probably going to have to be 2nd cuts if at all.  This dress fits TTS and would be great in anyone’s wardrobe.

Hope you enjoyed this round.  Thanks for stopping by!

OOTD: Light As Air

It doesn't seem to be getting any warmer out here.  With it being towards the end of May, I would expect pretty consistent days in the 70 degree range.  Thankfully, Anthro's Light As Air pullover gives a little bit of protection against the cold while still allowing some ventilation.  I like the 70's inspiration that I seem to be giving off with this look to, what with the sunglasses, the bootcut jeans and the major wedge sandals. That's actually what I do when I get pants that are too long. I'm too lazy to actually hem them, so I just get some major heels on.

I'm digging the red lip against the dark pieces I'm wearing today, especially with my bun keeping the hair out of my face.  What's funny is that this Tarte Matte Lipsurgence just doesn't come off.  So when I played soccer today, I got some comments about dressing up to play :P.  It also confuses the heck out of me because it moisturizes, but is a matte finish.  I expect most moisturizing lip products to be glossy I guess.

Well, that's a wrap.  Thanks for stopping by, see ya tomorrow!

OOTD: Easy Paisley

So I've lived in the same place for about 2 years now and today I pretty much pulled into the wrong parking lot today.  You'd think I'd know by now, but the entrances to the two parking areas in my apartment complex look very similar until you're actually facing the balconies in the surrounding apartments.  I'm convinced that they're moving the parking areas around.  You know....to trick me.  It's a CONSPIRACY.

I know I was pretty much absent all weekend, but it was quite the busy one.  I went on a hike in the morning on Saturday and an all day bonfire yesterday in the Santa Cruz area.  It was pretty ahmazing.  I have pictures, I'll try to share later in the week.  I am still perpetually ice from the half hour I spent in the Pacific Ocean though.  Around these parts that water is always coooooold.

I actually didn't have time to plan an outfit for today, so this is just what I pulled out of the closet.  My glutes still hurt from my 9.4 mile hike (yikes!) on Sat, so I was definitely jonesing for some flats.

As you can tell, the BF and I had a some fun with this shoot.  I quite love the dress I'm wearing -- Zara makes such interesting, but comfy wardrobe staples!  Hope you all had a good weekend!  Thanks for stopping by, see ya tomorrow!

OOTD: Whip It

Ever since I watched the movie Juno, I took Ellen Page as my celebrity doppleganger.  If you ever look at us with our hair up without make up on, there are some pretty distinct similarities in our facial structure and what not.  It kinda blows my mind because I'm Asian and she's not.  Anyway, we've recently canceled Comcast and started with the U-verse service which meeaaans -- a few free months of HBO and Cinemax!  So I'm stocking up on my chick flicks and today I got He's Just Not That Into You and Whip It under my belt.  And roller derby looks like a really freaking fun sport.

Here's today's outfit.  It was finally warm enough for a short skirt and sandals, so here we go:
