OOTD: Seriously, stop wearing pajamas like they're going out clothes...

Yesterday was a highly productive day.  I got up, did two loads of laundry, went to yoga, deposited a check, bought cupcakes, sent a check to reserve a cabin for Lake Tahoe, did more laundry and went to 3 parties.  Whew!  It was tons of fun though.  I found a groupon for the area to get 25 yoga classes over 2 months for $25.  For anyone that knows how much a yoga studio typically costs, that's a steal!  The studio is a little further than I would have liked (about 20 minutes away), but it's in a nice downtowny area that I can explore before or after classes, so I don't mind.   I used to think yoga was for wimps, being a more high impact workout type person -- soccer, kickboxing, snowboarding and the like -- but I was looking for a way to tone my upper body and yoga seemed like a good way to go.  Man does it make muscles sore in places that you wouldn't expect.  When was the last time your hamstrings and your hamstrings alone, were sore? I have pretty strong quads, so it's really bizarre to just have the back of your legs hurt.  But whatever, I love the pain :P.  Now that a major milestone in my work project has been reached, I'm trying to do all I can to get back on the workout band wagon.  It's definitely a work in progress.   I've signed myself up for a few soccer leagues and enlisted the help of some new workout buddies to keep me honest and from being bored.  What do you to keep your workouts from going stale?

Anyway, I'm going to start with yesterday's outfit.  It's nice and dressy because the BF and I were going party hopping.  I basically layered a lace top over a chemise, and I <3 it!

I was desperately trying to catch the light while I was getting ready, so this is actually what I wore partying after I realized I'd be walking a lot.  Funny how a half an hour can make a difference between the picture above and all the rest, huh? The Chinese Laundry pumps provide a good second option though, no?

Aaand my attempt at a model shot.  Don't laugh.  Seriously.  I see you!

I'll be back later tonight with today's outfit post.  Also, all that laundry I've been doing?  I'm trying to get all my 30 for 30 picks clean so I can take pictures of them!  If I'm lucky I'll get this done tonight, otherwise, tomorrow.  I don't have a chance beyond that since February starts on Tuesday!  What is 30 for 30 you ask?  Check it out here.
I'm starting to love this whole blogging thing.  It's super fun!  Thank you for sticking with me if you're following.   I totally missed my 1 month anniversary, but that's ok.  1 month anniversaries aren't important anyway.  Right? Right.

That's all for now.  Thanks for stopping by!

OOTD: Just Behind the Curve

Today was one of those days.  I stayed up late last night to watch Black Swan with the roomies (can we say: CREEPERS!)  This led to me waking up late for work and being pretty sleepy for the duration.  I actually got enough sleep, but you know how it is when you have an extremely long period of stress?  You work and work and work and ignore the needs of your daily life, so that by the time you’re able to come up for air, you’re tired no matter how much rest, good food and exercise you have? That’s where I am readers, I finished a major project this week and have been playing catch up with my life the last couple days.  As one of my coworkers said, it takes a week or so to become human again.

Though I enjoyed my time as an elf, thank you.

Today’s outfit was a bit hacked together, and I’m not sure if I like it or not.  Plus, my hair!  Horrendous :/.  I am starting to like my blue door as a backdrop a lot though.  Anyway, I’ll let you be the judge:

Outfit Details

Cardigan: Banana Republic

Shirt: Anthropologie Ric Rac Wind Rippled Tee

Pants: Anthropologie AG Stevie Cords

Shoes: Steve Madden

I’m pretty sure this weekend will be devoted to laundry, cleaning and the like.  Though the BF and I do have 3 parties to go to tomorrow.  I haven’t had a party to go to in like, 3 months, and then all my friends decide to have separate ones on the same day? It’s a conspiracy.  Obviously.

This weekend I will be pulling my 30 for 30 picks.  I have about 27 pieces picked out and am hemming and hawing about the last few.  Maybe after I do my laundry and pick up my dry cleaning, I’ll have a good idea of what I want to do.

And finally, I went to the mall today and picked up this (50% off sale price! Yay! Final sale? Boo):
JCrew Moss Tweed Mini (sold out online)

And this (I'm not sure I'll ever completely grow out of Forever 21):

Lace and Tweed! And I literally stopped in front of the JCrew display and stared at this skirt for 2 full minutes.  Like a kid in a candy store:

I want!  Guess I'll have to stalk for sale though, that price hurts.  I love tweed!  And orange! Think of all the wonderful springy outfits!

Anyway, that’s all for now.  Thanks for stopping by, see ya tomorrow!

OOTD: Wrinkles Over Time

Hey all!  This is obviously a delayed post, but you can see my outfit from yesterday below.  I ran around ALLL day yesterday, so obviously my dress is super wrinkled.  Sorry!  I'll steam it next time I wear it, I promise.  Maybe.

Outfit Details

Cardigan: Anthropologie Sparrow Aye Aye Cardigan
Belt: Anthropologie Looping Lanes Belt
Tights: Anthropologie Perfectly Plaid Tights
Shoes: Seychelles Shimmy Peep-Toe Pump

I'll be back later this afternoon with my outfit, whining pre-emptively about the 30-for-30 remix :P and so on.  But for now, I have to go.

Thanks for stopping by, see ya later!

OOTD: Puckered Ruffles

I've been feeling a little uninspired the last couple days.  Normally, I have an overabundance of inspiration from the different blogs, sites and magazines that I look for, with outfit after outfit possibility swimming in my head.  Not now.  I suspect this is because I've been working really hard for the last couple months and, with the push coming to a close this week, all the tiredness I've been holding at bay is coming down on me at the same time.  Has that ever happened to you?

The good thing is, as I've built my closet over the last year or so, it's a heck of a lot easier to pick random things out of my closet and have them go well together.  That's what happened today:

Outfit Details
Tank: Tahari Tee with Studded Trim
Blazer: Anthropologie Tabitha Puckered Eyelet Jacket
Jeans: Anthropologie AG Stevie Crops
Boots: Anthropologie Lucky Penny Loose Reign Booths

I've noticed that I rely heavily on neutrals when I don't have any front loaded outfit ideas.  You can't go wrong!  Today was also the first time I took all my pictures by myself with the timer.  I think it worked out pretty well, don't you?  Though I think the neighbors might have thought an alarm was going off with all the beeping noises that my camera was making.....beep!

My boots are making their first debut after sitting in my closet unworn for a month.  Why, you ask?  It wasn't because I didn't love them.  It was more because I felt guilty about my shopping sprees in the months of November and December and told myself if I still wanted them in a month, I would keep them.  If not, I would return them and get my money back.  Well, I decided that they were amazing and kept them.  I've never had anything in my shoe wardrobe like them!

That's it for today.  Thanks for stopping by, see ya tomorrow!

OOTD: Is Your Skirt Made of Drapes?

It's been a long day folks.  I won't bother you the details of my day, but it's been a relatively hard couple days.  In any case, today is the debut of my Lincolnshire skirt!  This skirt was sized crazy big, so I was able to score it for $20 -- I was absolutely thrilled!  I don't even care that the material could double as your mom's draperies.  Here's how I styled it:

Outfit Details
Shirt: Express (old)
Belt: Anthropologie Looping Lanes Belt
Skirt: Anthropologie Eva Franco Lincolnshire Skirt
Shoes: Chinese Laundry
Scarf: Anthropologie

I think I'm starting to get the hang of the timer.  Though BF came by at the end and took a few extra shots (Thanks honey!).   This will have to be a short post, because there are other obligations calling my name, but thanks for reading!

Thanks for stopping by, see ya tomorrow!

Anthropologie Fitting Room Reviews: Neo Refinement Pullover, Amhara Skirt, Take Action Dress, Powdered Pigment Dress, Post Match Top, Sweet Offerings Chemise

A new batch of fitting room reviews for your enjoyment!  Anthro's picking up speed with a ton of new arrivals, and I fear greatly for my wish list.

Neo Refinement Pullover, $88, Moth

I picked this up in the store and looked at the shape and weird sweater openings and thought – “Uh….” Then I put the size Small on and I think it fits TTS. It is AWESOME. I love how it’s drapey and shows off shape without being too tight. I could see this dressed up, dressed down and it would probably transition through all seasons pretty well. Definitely stalking this for sale, I pray that it doesn’t sell out until March so I can stick with my shopping ban.

Amhara Skirt, $68, Edme & Esyllte

This is another one that I fell in love with. I KNEW there was a reason I wasn’t hankering for the Circle the Globe Skirt and the Field Skirt – it’s because I was waiting for this skirt. The length is perfectly above the knee, and the colors would be great to match a great deal of tops with (and may be good for hiding wrinkles :D). I’m wearing a size 4, and it seems like a very forgiving skirt with its elastic waist. Stalking this one for sale also, but I might cave before the month is up.

Sweet Offerings Chemise, $78, Feather Bone

I picked this up as a last minute try on and it’s another Anthro chemise offering that could be a dress. The size Small is a good, comfy fit, and the length is good for the petite ladies. Material is cotton, light and airy, and would probably make someone a fantastic summer dress. It doesn’t make my heart sing though, so it’s probably a pass, maybe I would pick it up on second cuts.

Take Action Dress, $168, Moulinette Seours

I was very attracted to the colors on this dress as soon as it came out. The high neckline isn’t typically something I go for, but it’s definitely unlike anything in my wardrobe. I started by trying on a size 4, which ended up being a bit saggy in places due to my short stature. Since the waist is elastic, I was able to size down to a 0. You may want to actually try this one on to make sure it fits you right! Totally stalking for sale.

Powdered Pigment Dress, $228, Tracy Reese

This was another fabulous dress. I love lots of colors in a garment, and this fits the bill with its mix of pastels and more saturated colors. I could see this worn in spring, summer and fall. The silk is nice to the touch and the cutout in the back still somehow magically hides a bra. I’m wearing a size 2 in this dress, so I would say TTS, size down if you’re in between sizes. I will be stalking this one for sale.

Post Match Top, $48, Porridge

I tried on this top for fun – mostly because it reminds me of these Asics my brother used to have that were black with Kelly green accents. I was so jealous of them and wanted them in a girls size! I like how the seams help create a more slimming effect. I’m wearing a size small, so I would say this fits TTS. I’m not really in the market for new shirts though, so this will be a pass for me.

Well, that wraps up that.  Thanks for stopping by!  See ya next time!

OOTD: I Heart Thrifting

Follow my blog with bloglovin

This weekend, I made a trip to my local Crossroads with a $20 credit from a previous visit. I love this place because you can find pretty good quality name brand stuff for a fraction of the price!  Now, this isn't like normal thrifting where you have to dig through piles of duds to find a gem.  They vet most of the stuff for you and there's always tons of good stuff.  This does mean that things will be priced a little higher than a regular thrift store, but there are certainly days I would take ease of shopping over saving a couple bucks.  I got this flowy, sheer top as part of my haul along with a bright bright Urban Outfitters skirt, which I'm sure will make an appearance soon.

Outfit Details
Top: Thrifted
Pants: Gap
Belt: Anthropologie Snakebite Belt
Shoes: Anthropologie Miss Albright Pebbled and Primped Boots
Jacket (not pictured): Anthropologie Charlie & Robin Alice in Autumn Sweatercoat

I tried taking pictures myself with the timer today, but almost all of them came out blurry.  My BF took pity on me and took a better set.

That's it for today.  Thanks for stopping by, see ya tomorrow!
