OOTD: Glassflower

Saturdays are the most fun weekend days because you can do whatever you want.  Sleep in after recovering from a Friday night of fun.  Wake up early to do something active and sporty.  Take naps.  Eat at random restaurants.  Have fun adventures. Catch up on errands.  Whatever floats your boat.  And no matter what, there's one more buffer off day in Sunday so that you don't have to worry about catching up on work or any nonsense like that.

Today I met some friends to have authentic Shanghainese food -- specifically soup dumplings.  For those that don't know what those are, they're essentially chinese bread pastry with dumpling meat on the inside along with delicious soup.  Eating them requires finesse -- biting straight into one will result in squirting soup all over the place.  Only a careful bite followed by a slurping of the soup base will allow you to continue eating the meat on the inside.  It was my first time having one, and it was delicious!

The weekend also allows for creative, comfortable dressing.  Like this colorful outfit:

Outfit Details
Cardigan: Anthropologie Liamolly Glassflower Cardigan
Top: Anthropologie Wind Rippled Tee
Jeans: Anthropologie AG Stevie Crops
Boots: Zigi Soho Mixer Boots

I scooped this cardigan up during a Liamolly sample sale on Swirl.  Swirl is a daily sample sale site with great discounts in higher priced brands.   I've picked up so many awesome things on this site and ones like it.  Want an invite? Click here.  Anthropologie carried the yellow version of this called the Glassflower Cardigan, but I fell in love with the color palette of this one.  I'm officially in love with Liamolly and its fun cuts, construction and comfy knits.
Thanks for stopping by!  See ya tomorrow!

OOTD: Lite Brite

It seems that every time I go for a happy hour, it disrupts my blogging schedule.  Not to the point that it's completely detrimental (hence the day after morning post), but you spend a few hours right after work hanging with your friends, and by the time I get home, it's dark.  Ah well. Gotta make sacrifices to be happy, right?

In any case, I got my Go International Dresses in the mail today, and the Button Front Dress makes its debut!  I'm loving the proportions on this dress -- it's a few inches above the knee with an elastic waistband.  I'm thrilled it fits.  Sometimes Target or juniors dresses don't fit right in the arms and shoulders which requires sizing up, but not this time.  I see this as being pretty versatile and wearable for a long time.

Sorry for the dark pictures, but here's what it looks like put together:

Outfit Details
Dress: Tucker for Target Button Front Dress (buy in Target stores, sold out online)
Tights: We Love Colors Opaque Tights
Boots: b.o.c. Martina Boot
Sash: Gap
Necklace: Anthropologie

This dress has so many colors in it.  This time I pulled out the orange with my tights and the magenta with the sash.
Well, I'm off to work out and get Shanghainese food.  My friend is just going to order for us, which will be great because I can just eat without thinking!

I'll be back with today's outfit later tonight.  What do you have planned this weekend?

OOTD: Paddy's Day Fail

Friends, I woke up today forgetting that it was St. Patrick's Day.  I was determined to wear a blouse and tuck it into pants with a belt.  So I did.  I didn't even realize it was the 17th until late morning.  I could've been all hard core and ran home to change, but I guess I'm just not all that hard core.

Outfit Details
Shirt: J Crew
Pants: Gap
Belt: J Crew Factory
Shoes: Target Taki Mary Jane Pumps

I made up for it later tonight with a green top, a green blazer and green beer.  Followed by a night of killing greenish colored zombies on Left 4 Dead 2.  And the leaves in the pictures are green, right?  I've drawn up enough Irish green today...right?  Right.

Hope you had a wonderful one!  See ya tomorrow!

OOTD: Red & Plaid

I love jersey dresses.  They're so comfortable, yet they look good.  I got up early today and just needed something to throw on.  I used plaid tights to shake it up a bit.

Outfit Details
Cardigan: Express
Dress: Anthropologie Lucerna Dress
Belt: Anthropologie Looping Lanes Belt
Tights: Anthropologie
Boots: Zigi Soho Mixer Boots
Scarf: Old Navy

Anyone pick anything up at the Anthropologie sale?  I'm patiently waiting for my Target Go International dresses to arrive.  Exciting!

Off to a "work" party to me.  What's a work party?  It's my attempt to pretend I'm in college and studying or doing homework with friends at a coffee shop or something similar.  Really, I'm just working next to my friends.  But you know what?  Whatever works.

What do you do to get past a heavy work load?

Thanks for stopping by, see ya tomorrow!

OOTD: Some Days are No Outfit Days

I actually had my outfit all picked out for today and it consisted of the scalloped Forever 21 skirt I bought this weekend among other things.  And I did wear it.  Yet, it rained today, my DSLR batteries were out of juice, I couldn't find my tripod....yes, things just went wrong today.  So, these pictures are of what I wore out to dinner last week.  It was short lived, but in my opinion, a pretty amazing outfit.

Outfit Details
Cardigan: Anthropologie Clinging Blossoms Cardigan
Dress: Anthropologie Speckled Ink Dress
Belt: Anthropologie Snake Bite Belt
Shoes: BCBG Paris

A nice outfit for tapas and sangria, do you think? This will be a short and sweet day, thanks for stopping by!

OOTD: Snappity Snap

This has been quite the long day and I haven't had a chance to really sit down, so this is going to be a relatively snappy post. I wore this outfit minus the undershirt on Saturday to go to a lounge, and I liked it enough to wear again to work. Ultimate day to night anyone? Night to day? Anyway, after a few days of color, I've returned to a more neutral palette. I also was dying to wear pants today for no reason at all.

Outfit Details
Tunic: Bought at boutique in Melrose in LA
Shirt: H&M
Belt: Anthropologie Looping Lanes Belt
Pants: LOFT
Boots: Zigi Soho Boots
Necklace: Bought at Ambiance in SF

I've also come to the conclusion that wrinkled clothes and lack of makeup make for beautiful pictures.  Cue me spinning for joy.
Well, I think that's it for today.  I'll probably check up on the Anthro sale and then call it a night.  Anyone planning to pick up anything for sure-sies? I'm hoping for the Delicate Drafts cardi to go on sale myself.

Have a good night!

OOTD: Uninspired

Happy Sunday evening all!  Here is my catch up post for today.  It was a busy spread of soccer, coffee and work partying with my friends.  Here are some of the things I learned this weekend:

  1. Bananagrams is a fun game.
  2. 2 or more glasses of Vietnamese coffee will get you so caffeinated you feel drunk.
  3. It's easier to get me to be productive if I can pretend I'm in college while working from home.
  4. Forever21, despite my best efforts to convince myself I have outgrown it, will always suck me in with cute clothing.
  5. Thrift shopping is cheap, fun, and will get you original clothing.
  6. There's nothing wrong with blatantly buying and then copying an outfit off a mannequin.
A visual example of #6 above can be found in today's outfit.  I was tired from my game and completely uninspired and I misplaced my Moleskine notebook that has my backup outfit ideas.  So, I ended up just wearing the outfit I admired and bought at Forever21 during yesterday's shopping trip.  Whatever, I think it's cute.

Outfit Details
Top: Forever 21 Geometric Knitted Sweater Top
Skirt: Painted Flowers Skirt
Necklace: World Market
Bracelet: Gift from Mom
Boots: b.o.c. Martina Boots

And I filled my need for a light spring sweater!  Win! See below for the items above and the extra skirt I bought from Forever21 yesterday.  I swear, the Union Square Forever is the biggest AND cleanest I've ever been in.  One full building with 3 whole floors.  You could spend hours (and $$$) in there.

/cough.  Bottom half of the Horizon Line Dress anyone?  Monotone Scalloped Clouds Skirt perchance?

I also picked up a fei dress and plaid Chinese Laundry peep toes at the consignment store.  It was a great trip!

Hope you all had a great weekend!  Happy workweek-eve!
