OOTD: Nautically Tall

Let's take one more non-30 for 30 outfit for the road, shall we?  Yesterday, the BF and I went to do some shopping in Los Gatos so I could return a few items to J Crew.  The weekends are the times I really like to experiment with outfits -- I've been wanting to layer my chambray tunic over a dress for a while, and a nautical theme just sweetened the hypothetical pot.  I also took the opportunity to throw on some sky high wedges -- tall for the win!  Nautically tall, if you will.  Haha.  Hahaha....

That breeze in the first 2 pictures is natural.  It's not like I bring my own fan around with me to give me strategic fabric flow or anything.  (Though now that I think about it, that might not be the worst idea ever.)  I've decided that being taller is awesome.  Now to find some way to stretch myself an additional 5 inches...If you know a pain free way, let me know!

Hope you all had a great weekend!  Thanks for stopping by, see ya tomorrow!

Summer 30 for 30

Well, it's that time of season again.  Kendi Everyday spearheads the 30 for 30 challenge every 3-4 months, where bloggers (or the everyday chick!) choose 30 items from their wardrobe to create 30 distinct outfits over 30 days.  Accessories don't count, which is great, but shopping is also banned during the challenge (nooooooooo!).  First day is tomorrow, so here are the 30 items in my challenge:

3 Dresses

June 30 for30

5 Sweaters/Blouses
June 30 for30

6 Tops

Summer 30 for 30

3 Cardigans/Blazers
June 30 for30

3 Skirts

June 30 for30

2 Pairs of Jeans
June 30 for30

5 Pairs of Shoes
June 30 for30

Now, if you're doing the math, that's only 27 items.  The reason is, 2 of the items are coming in the mail and, admittedly, I forgot to include one of the cardigans.  So...here are the rest:

Alice + Olivia Danny Tank Dress - This came in the mail a size too small so I'll be waiting for an exchange!

Anthropologie Undisclosed Stitch Shorts - expected delivery on Wednesday.

Anthropologie Dwarf Quince Cardigan - I just forgot to include this in the photograph :P.

Well, that's what I'll be wearing for the next 30 days!  The one exception is on June 26th, which is one of my oldest friend's wedding days.  While I like fashion challenges, including a bridesmaid dress in my 30 items is not what I had in mind.  Sooo..I'll beg for your forgiveness in advance for that.

Wish me luck!  Thanks for stopping by!

OOTD: Comfortably Patterned

So...I know I've been a little MIA, but it's been a busy and fun weekend!  Friday the BF and I drove up to Santa Rosa to pick up some brewery beer for a friend that missed out earlier in the week (he's such a sweet boy).  Russian River Brewery has the first IPA that I don't totally hate!  I usually go for the dark stouts and porters or lighter, citrusy beers like Hefeweizens or blondes, so it's a step for me.  They also had some delicious pizza and ice cream walnut brownies.

It was actually a no-shower day (ewwww!), so my hair was up and I decided to wear flats.  I did make the effort to pattern match though, so I still think I keep my blogger cred.  Right? *crickets*.

Yesterday, the BF and I did some fun things in Los Gatos.  I'll try to share later tonight, if I don't get too distracted ;).  Also!  I've decided to participate in Kendi Everyday's 30 for 30 Remix again.  It starts Monday, so be ready for 30 days of remixing fun here on to look for: Style

Thanks for stopping by, see ya tomorrow!

OOTD: Citrus is Good for Your Health

I love fruit.  Cherries, peaches, bananas, strawberries and on and on.  But citrus is the best.  I can eat 5 pounds of oranges in a couple of days.  No, I'm not proud, but I AM full of Vitamin C.  It even changed my clothes orange and yellow! Oh colorblocking -- I loves you.

I totally found this cardigan at the local Goodwill.  I was perusing the racks and my jaw dropped, I snatched it off the hanger and held on for dear life.  What a find! And apparently, tangerine is in season this year (the color, not the fruit) per Lucky Magazine.

The BF and I went on a hike in the foothills today and it was pretty amazing.  The greenery and nature was so cool.  I saw cacti!  Check it:

I'm thinking that hikes are going to be a great, cheap, fun way to spend time with people and get exercise in at the same time.  It just seems like a win win!  What do you think?

This was just one of those days that I really couldn't get myself jump started.  I couldn't put a ton of effort into a complicated outfit, so I fell back on some good old staple items -- skinnies, a cardi, a scarf and flats.
Speaking of being laid back -- have you all seen the Sex and the City 2 movie?  It was up on my On Demand and I'm relishing a chick flick, taco salad and alone time.  I love how that fearsome foursome continues to age with grace and style. And besides -- what better for a fashion blogger as a movie than one all about fashion?  Forget that the movie doesn't have much of a plot.  There's plenty of eye candy to go around.

Happy Hump Day! Thanks for stopping by, see ya tomorrow!

OOTD: Eccentric Real Estate Agent?

While I do like my outfit today, I was looking at myself in the mirror in the bathroom and just could shake the feeling that I looked like a real estate agent.  A crazy real estate agent that wears a checkered blazer.

I've actually had a pretty cranky afternoon.  I meant to join a pick up game of soccer that was a good 20 miles from where I live.   When I finally get there through all the traffic and nonsense, I find myself at a very nature reserve-y park that I couldn't seem to find a soccer field on.  So instead, I wandered around this park, which thankfully was pretty beautiful. Still, given my inability to get my workout in, the fact I was hungry and that I was wearing flip flops in a hilly area, I wasn't a happy camper by the end.  Top it all off with my roundabout wanderings leaving me dead ended at a creek, leaving me to walk 8 blocks in the adjoining neighborhood AROUND the park to get to my car? Oh dear.  Here's a neat pic I got of the scenery thanks to instagram though:

Would've been a nice walk if I wasn't wearing flip-flops on up and downhill gravel surfaces.  Anyway, thanks for reading about my silly adventure.  See ya tomorrow!

OOTD: Madewell is not my Sponsor...

...though maybe they should be?  This outfit was another one inspired by the Madewell 2011 Fall Lookbook.  I am a huge fan of both mustard and maroon, but I never thought to wear them together, until I saw this:

And all of a sudden the clouds parted and the world made sense.  And because there's nothing like painting by numbers when your creative juices have absolutely been drained, this is what I came up with for today.

Also, my ponytail is no ordinary ponytail because it is a superawesometeasedwithateascomb ponytail.  What? You can't tell? It was there this morning, I swear.  Guess I'll need to invest in some hair bees to rebuild my hair beehive.   Get it? Haha...sorry about that.  I'll be getting out of your hair now. (/snicker)

Okay, okay. Thanks for stopping by!
