OOTD: Patchwork

I've been coming to this post periodically over the day and have yet to figure out what I want to write about.  So, I think I'll just give up and let the outfit speak for itself.  More colorblocking action, this time with blue and mustard at the forefront. Add some neutral shoes for elongated leg and we're good to go!

Thanks to Kavita and Oriana for recommending some great interior design blogs for me -- I'm addicted!

Keeping this short but sweet -- thanks for stopping by!

OOTD: Blogger Inspiration

One of the best things about being part of the fashion blogging community is all the different points of views.  I follow over 30 different style blogs and I love every single one of them because they show different body types, different styles and even different ways of styling the same item -- the outfits are usually extremely different!  They also help me immensely when I'm stuck in a rut or have absolutely no creative juice in the morning.  For this post, I took a page from Kim from Anthroholic.  Rust and mint were never something I thought would EVER go together (and if you know me, I LOVE mixing strange colors), but lo and behold, this color combination rocks!

I've also gotten on the bandwagon with tying the ends of cardigans and button down shirts.  No longer is this style for super skinny tall people with rocking abs.  Now, you too, can tie a shirt....over another shirt! I'm all about defining a waist with belts and whatnot, and this is a great way to do it without one!  Now if I can only ensure that the ends won't stretch from being in a knot all day....

Does anyone know any good interior design blogs?  I'm moving to a new place and the BF and I are discussing bedroom decor.  I've come to the realization that I've been spending a disproportionate amount of time looking at closets.  Like:

and this:

I love a good closet!  Of course, I'm interested in the actual bedroom part too!  Any suggestions?

OOTD: Color Neutrals

One of the things I've really learned in writing this blog is how to incorporate other colors into an outfit as neutrals.  Sounds counterintuitive right? Color as neutrals?  Yet, I use them all the time to anchor an outfit.  Typically, these colors are the deeper muted hues of a color -- a navy, army green, mustard, maroon, so on and so forth.   Today I used an olive and darker blue color to navigate the ever so wonderful Gathered Hemlock Dress.  I love how this dress is form fitting, but still covers a lot of the body.  And the colors are just fantastic!  You could pretty much incorporate every color with this dress with cardigans, belts, shoes and tights.

I've started to use Pinterest a lot to capture good styling ideas, home decor and DIY things.  It's a really great way to carry around inspiration boards when you have access to the internet.    I also love that you can follow others and see what they're pinning.  I'd love to see what all you're looking at for inspiration.  Let me know if you have an account and I'll totally follow you!  I can be found here if you're interested.

OOTD: Flecks of Paint

This dress represents one of the aspects of Anthropologie I love.  Easy to throw on at a moment's notice, super comfortable and one of a kind pieces like this jersey dress.  Anyone that's been following Anthro in the last couple years knows the Speckled Ink Dress by Tracy Reese -- especially in the blue colorway.   I'm so glad I managed to find this on sale because I just love the abstractness of it and I couldn't afford it full price.  It's like I was wearing this awesome white Grecian jersey dress and just happened to walk by a bunch of people flicking paintbrushes of blue paint at me.  Actually, that would be awesome.  Anyone want to fleck shirt paint all over this other dress I have?  Seriously, I think it would be a ton of fun.  (Note to self...).

But really, this dress would be great on it's own, under a cardi, with heels, with flats, barefoot.  Sigh.  Anyway, I'll stop gushing now.

I'm actually going camping this weekend (ack! no showers!) so I'll be taking a few days of hiatus.  I'll be back on Monday though, so don't celebrate cry just yet.  I bought a sleeping bag from Target, so hopefully I won't freeze to death.  Or get eaten by bugs.  Everything that's bought from Target has to be amazing right?  That's what I've been told.  Time to stop rambling.  Over and out.

OOTD: Urbanesque

Dark colors and black are typically not on my fashion radar, especially during the summer season, but today these were what spoke to me when I woke up in the morning.  I feel very New York in this outfit -- like I could go to a nice, hip dinner in the city.  It makes me feel sassy!  I think it's fun how clothes can give you a certain boost of confidence if you feel they look good, don't you?

I'm trying to make a more concentrated effort to cook more at home.  Today I made shrimp stir fry, and I think it ended up turning out pretty good!  Now it's time for So You Think You Can Dance.  Anyone else watch that show?  The contestants are so amazing and totally inspire me to dance.

OOTD: Hearts, Stars and Diamonds, Clovers and Balloons

I've had a great deal of commercial jingles going through my head today.  Someone brought up the game Mouse Trap in the comments of a previous post, and I kept hearing the theme in my head.  And when I was trying to think of a name for this post, the Lucky Charms jingle was the first thing that came to mind.  Even though I AM only wearing hearts today.  Well...maybe clovers too, but I won't tell you where ;).

Nothing too crazy here, just a nice, simple outfit to be productive in.  And productive today I was!  I made a grocery run and made Greek sliders, complete with tzaziki sauce, tomatoes and cucumbers.  Then I went to yoga.  I've been so terrible at keeping to my routine lately, but I figure if I take it one day at a time, I'll be fine.  What do you do to make sure all the things you have to do throughout the day get done?

In other news -- my roommates and I received the e-mail yesterday that we got the condo we wanted to rent!  It's so pretty and I'm just too excited.  I'm sure you'll see bits and pieces in the near future, we're moving in on Sept 1st.

OOTD: Patterny Patterns

This outfit is inspired by this Anthropologie outfit on the left.  I loved the pattern matching and, while I don't have the exact pieces, the ones I have on seem to work nicely.  Don't you think so?

Close right? I love wearing flats with shorts because I still get leg length while wearing super comfy shoes.

The roommates and I have been looking for a new condo or townhouse to live in because we've acquired a new roommate!  We saw 11 places in the last 5 days.  My head is spinning, but I think we found some awesome potentials.  Still, the time driving around makes it difficult to find time to take pictures and blog, but I'm going to keep trying to hang in there.   You should too!
