Repeats!?

This is a two for one post!  Weekends have me going back to more simplistic, laid back roots during the day time, and this Sunday was no exception.  I've been so jealous of the warmer weather elsewhere in the country that I decided I would wear shorts no matter what today!  Unfortunately, it was a breezy 60 degrees outside, so I had to pair them with boots.  I'm going to count it anyway.

The BF and I spent a lot of time today cleaning the house.  We now have a tidied up storage closet and fresh sheets on the bed.  Excitement, excitement, I know.  And I wore two items that already showed up on this blog this week!  Taboo or awesome remixing?  You be the judge!

In an effort to save some money, I made a trip to the local Goodwill to peruse the shelves and find some deals.  I totally came home with an Anthro cardigan, in tangerine no less!  I love second hand shops -- you never know what you'll find!
And finally, here are some shots of the BF and I for his birthday dinner at Forbes Mill in Los Gatos.  We had some super delicious steaks and wine pairings and just had a fabulous time.

This is the amazing maxi dress I picked up from the Treasure Island Flea Market by Betsey Johnson.  I was so excited when I found it and was awesome!
Well, there's your twofer.  Thanks for stopping by, see ya tomorrow!

OOTD: Oh Nerd

Yesterday was the Palo Alto City Wide Yardsale.  Effectively, the city organized it so that the residents of one town would pull together garage sales in the same time frame.  I personally think it's a wonderful idea.  The event really promoted the reuse of existing items as opposed to constantly buying new things all the time.  I've really started to embrace shopping for second hand items both on eBay and other sites and at thrift stores in the last year, and I think it's a great way to shake up your wardrobe without breaking the bank.

The only sad part?  It rained all morning!  The BF and I wanted to spend a nice sunny day walking from house to house, but instead we drove all of 3 blocks at a time to find the next sale.  Oh well!  We still had a great time!  I picked up some ice skates for $5 (wow!) and the BF picked up Stratego for a buck.  With the cold and the walking, I went for comfort:

I'm a giant gaming nerd (ahem, Portal 2 anyone?), so I love my joystick tee.  It's a nice, fun way to be comfortable.   Hope you all are having a great weekend!  Thanks for stopping by!

Hooray for Birthdays!

I just want to take a second to wish one of my very favorite boys in the whole world a very Happy Birthday.

Happy Birthday Baby.  I love you.

OOTD: Like a Rhinestone Cowboy

This is the first thing that popped into my head when I was trying to name this post.  While I wear no rhinestones and my outfit is cowboy inspired at best, I now have the song playing over and over in my head.  Well, not so much the song as the one line in this post's title.  Oh dear.

The actual inspiration for this outfit came from the Madewell 2011 Lookbook.  Specifically, this one:

I think I got a lot of the feeling right, don't you?

Speaking of inspiration, I've actually been using both Pinterest and instagram (iPhone required) in the last month or so and I really like them!  If you're interested in following me on either of those, my user names are:

OOTD: Dirty Twister

For those that are quick on the draw, you may have noticed that I accidentally posted a blank blog post with the title above.  And you may have wondered on the crazy things I might write about with a title like that.  So I'm sorry to disappoint with the news that I have not, in fact, played dirty twister today.  I simply asked one of my roommates what I should name this post and this is what I had to work with.  Let's just say the other potentials were NSFW.

I keep a blog book of potential outfits for the days I'm feeling less creative, and this was one of them.  I really wanted something comfy but quirky and I'm really digging this today.   I'm trying to get my creative juices flowing because a new round of 30 for 30 is coming up.  I'm so excited because I'm gearing up to go into major money saving mode for the next *gulp* year, so this will be a good way to go cold turkey first.
Happy Thursday! Thanks for stopping by!

OOTD: Ruffle Mint

Ruffle Mint sounds a little bit like a super girly gum, when in fact, it is what I have dubbed my outfit.  For the ruffles and the mint color, of course.

What I like about this outfit is that I'm not wearing any article of clothing that are the same colors.  (The belt doesn't count.  Why? Because I said so.)  The trick about this outfit is that all the pieces are the same intensity, which is my (pretend) scientific explanation of how this works.

Figured I'd break up the day trip posts with an outfit one, so hope this is to your liking!  I still owe you bonfire pictures, so I'll get to those next.

Thanks for stopping by!

Wine Country: Sonoma

On Memorial Day, the BF and I were supposed to head up to Wine Country with several of our friends, but one thing or another happened and we ended up going on our own!  I've fallen in love with California wines since I moved here, which is a complete 180 from when I hated any sort of wine.  Obviously, I didn't have the right kind!  The scenery doesn't hurt either.

This first set was taken at Bella Winery, which is the winery I currently have a membership at.  It has the most amazing red wines, and I love the Zinfandel wines in particular.  They have a really great red dessert wine called Late Harvest.  Yum! It's also the only place on the planet that I can pay by saying "Oh, just put it on the card on file."  Oh la! The fancy life!  (Disclaimer: I am not actually that fancy -- Really, I swear.)

Wine Country

It was a beautiful day, so they had hula hoops outside the wine cave.  So great!

We also made a stop at Benzinger Winery.  They're supposed to have this super great tram tour, but we missed the last one by half an hour.  So it was just wine for us.  The wine here was amazing as well, and the greenery was so, for lack of a better word, green!

Like how I snuck an awesome one of my handsome BF in an awkward pose?  I sure do ;).  And one last outfit shot for the road.
