WDTBD: Jumpity Jump

This is a combo "let me show you the random pictures I took in the last few months" and "oh, I (sorta) know how to use a camera" post.  Alternatively "the jumping pictures" post.  There have been a smattering of trips to other places and visitors to the bay that I've taken pictures at and never posted.  So because I've been absent for a while, here are some shenanigans to entertain you somewhat.  Not all these pictures are mine, some are from another photographer friend's camera.

Lets start in reverse chronological order, because that's how I roll.  My friends came for the week to visit various Bay Area locations.  This particular day was dedicated to watching football, playing Bananagrams and taking ridiculously silly pictures.  What is Bananagrams, you ask?  Well, friend, you're missing out and should check it out here.

Let's start with football.  All of us (well, almost all of us) that were out this weekend are Chicagoans, which by choice, default or force, makes us Bears fans.  So we hiked over to a local bar for some breakfast and big screen TVs.   This was a delicious event, though we got our little tushies kicked by the Saints.  Afterwards, we took pictures just outside the bar:

So happy after our team lost.  But we had delicious food!

/cough.  Photobomb!

Full and ready for a nap, we went home and -- huh? -- went to the outdoor mall!  This is what happens when friends from out of town want to spend asmuchtimeaspossibletogether, crankiness be damned.  The next few pictures are shots of some element of what each person was wearing.  I like some better than others.

There was a pretty cool giant chessboard in the area we were in, so we obviously had to play with it.

Seriously, how badass is this picture?

During an outing earlier in August, the same group of people (plus 2, minus 1 -- yes, I realize that's confusing) went camping at Big Bear.  The highlight of the trip, other than spending time together, fire cooking and sleeping in a tent, was a morning bike ride throughout the surrounding area.  A selection of pictures from that outing:

Nothing better than schmexy ladies on bikes!

Seriously, I wasn't kidding about the jumping.  Check out all the air!

Why does this look photoshopped?  I swear I was there -- I got stinging nettles in that stupid grass!

Go Renegade or Go Home

Two things that I've really opened myself up to since I started this blog: Thrift clothing and independent crafters.  The first for several reasons -- used clothing is environmentally friendly, typically one of a kind and the cost is low.  The second for similar reasons -- I love the idea of supporting small business and getting something unique is great!  The BF and I went to the Renegade Craft Fair in Fort Mason Center last weekend, and it was this amazing array of crafters selling their wares in a large warehouse-y space.  I took so many pictures and took a few things home as well.

The sign outside the venue for the craft fair was so cute with the little flags!  And the place was so packed -- it was nice to see so many people supporting independent artists.

There were also tons of delicious food.  This cupcake had Blue Moon in it and was surprisingly tasty. And yes, my nails were green at the time.

Some amazing products: Felted plants (that won't die in your office), vases and containers for Japanese ikebana (flower arrangements), scarves with song lyrics cut in, cute BART onesie.

More cool stuff: Some vases and containers, Posters by Gigart -- we bought the Chicago poster for the BF's office, chalkboard signs -- we bought one of these for the BF's office as well.  I love our !? picture, don't you?

Outside Fort Mason Center.  It wasn't planned, but the contrast of my outfit against the water's pretty cool IMHO.

We finished off a super fun day by going to the Ferry Building for some amazing drip coffee and cheese from Cowgirl Creamery.  Cowgirl is great because you take a number and describe the types of cheese you like.  The folks behind the counter scrape some cheese samples for customers to try and then you order what you want by weight.  I try to go here any time I'm in the area (which isn't as often as I'd like).  We then got dinner in the Inner Sunset area at Park Chow.

We had pesto lasagna, a wedge salad and two desserts: pecan pie a la mode and ginger cake with pumpkin ice cream.  The pie was just the right amount of sweetness with nice big pecans.  The ginger cake was spicy and the ice cream cut into it perfectly.  It was an amazing end to an amazing day.

Hope your enjoyed the recap as much as I did the actual day!  Thanks for stopping by :D.

WDTBD!?: SJ Eats

A quick "What Does This Button Do!?" post.  This past weekend, my friends and I went to SJ Eats: A Moveable Feast.  It was a congregation of food trucks in a San Jose parking lot with super delicious food.  A great idea, but as it was the first time they put on the event, I don't think they were ready for the response!  Lines blurred into each other and took anywhere from 1-2 hours to get any sort of food.  Luckily, the day was beautiful and perfect for sitting on the ground eating delicious food.

Trucks included Filipino, Ice Cream, Cajun, Indian, Cupcakes and Curry. There were over 20 trucks -- 10 for lunch and 10 for dinner.  Our friend was already in the Filipino truck line when we got there, so in an effort to save time, we just got food there.  Another friend got into the shorter (i.e. 30 min) ice cream truck line for Horchata ice cream sandwiches.  The cookie was chocolate chip!  Talk about decadent.

From the Filipino truck, we got Sisig tacos, which is basically braised beef plus cilantro, cabbage and onions.  With some lime juice, it was highly delicious.  We also got fresh lumpia, which are eggroll type finger food with sweet and sour dipping sauce.  And the BF got himself Coke in a glass bottle, which he claims tastes better than cans or plastic bottles.

One of our friends came after we ordered food (sad!).  Since the trucks would be closing in less than 30 min and were mostly out of food, we went to an Argentinian empanada place called The Mmoon.  If you've never had one, the flaky crust and warm filling are super delicious!

This was the same day as my Style Challenge, but I gave up my socks and high heels after 2.5 hours of walking around in exchange for flat oxfords :P.  I loved the hubcap decor of the restaurant.

My sad friends.  Apparently the restaurant closed it doors because they sold 3 days worth of food in 3 hours!  My BF and I made it into the restaurant before they did this, so the owner was nice enough to let them in.
I love trying Argentinian beer.  This one was light and refreshing.
Our pile of empanadas.  There was pizza, sausage, cheese and corn, spinach and a few others.  So delicious!
We found this awesome old school telephone booth outside the restaurant and just HAD to take pictures outside, inside and all around it.

We had a super fun time!  Do you have food trucks in your neighborhood?  They're all over the place in the Bay Area, with their twitters and Facebook pages telling their schedules.  It's a fun way to get a quick bite!

Thanks for stopping by, see ya tomorrow!
