OOTD: Tank Dress

This is the first time in a long time that I've been home alone in the evening.  I've had a ton of stuff going on the last few weeks, so slowing down for a few hours is actually bizarrely weird.  It's just me, a glass of wine, Netflix and fashion mags.

This outfit is the perfect (Bay Area) season transition outfit.  The loafers and tank dress screams summer (it's called the summertime tank dress for crying out loud!) and the scarf and blazer take it into fall.  And there's nothing like tying a scarf in a way that makes it LOOK like it's a shirt.  Just make sure to wear something under it.  Otherwise it's awkward when someone checks you out from the back.

OOTD: Devil's Canyon

I'm a major fan of all things alcoholic and really, the more hipster the better.  So when my friends told me that the Devil's Canyon Brewery in Belmont, CA only opens the last Friday of every month to party and sell beers on tap, I was totally there.  You mean I can sample craft brews in a limited window with a select few in the know?  Count me in! Yeesh, I drink the Bay Area Kool-Aid more and more every year.

Since I was all ready to get my drink on, I decided to go with a loose tunic over skinny jeans and boots.  The boots because we walked to and took the train and the loose tunic to cover my inevitable beer belly.  And the skinny jeans so that I didn't look completely bloated everywhere ;).

And a few shots en route and at the brewery itself:

I ended up having the Pilot Brew, which as a very sweet, dark orange blossom flavored beer, a blonde beer and the Full Boar Scotch Ale.  In the end the Scotch was my favorite.  I would definitely be down for doing this again!

What kind of event would you go to in a heart beat?

OOTD: Wearing the Pants

I'm not sure when I started drifting away from wearing dress pants.  I think it might have been when I discovered Anthropologie and all the wonderful things dresses and skirt could do.  But when I want a good menswear inspired look, really the only way to go with bottoms are pants.  For extra flair, I even decided to forgo the normal bow on my top and tie it in a more dude kind of way.  Well, as dude-like as I could manage with a floral shirt.  I've recently picked up a boyfriend watch so that I could stop banging my BFs on walls and scratching it up and whatnot, so maybe that's why I keep going for more streamlined than ruffled outfits as of late.

I totally thought the red shoes would be too Christmassy, but I guess separating the green and the red helped!   Have a good one!  Thanks for stopping by!

OOTD: Motoring Hipsters

I don't think my car has ever made it onto this blog.  Close your eyes for a second.  What kind of car do you think I have?

Did you get it right?

I have to say I have an unhealthy attachment to my car.  I got it right after I graduated from college because i was bound and determined to have a Mini Cooper ever since I saw Italian Job in 2003.  Yes, cliche, I know.

I remember being so mad when I moved from Chicago, where NO ONE had my car to San Francisco, where EVERYONE did.  All the hipsters ruined my independent personality!

Speaking of hipsters, I guess I must have drank the Kool-Aid -- this is a kinda hipsterish outfit.  I even have the polka dot sunglasses!  I really love being able to throw a blazer over a casual outfit and sneakers.  It's just such a contradictory combination.  Bonus points that the flowers on my blazer match my car!

Hope everyone's having a great September!

OOTD: Peachy

This skirt actually has a bunch of apples on it, but it just wasn't as fun to make the post title "Orange Apple'.  I've worn this skirt a bunch of times this summer, but this is the first time it made it on the blog.  I love little mini skirts like this because a short girlie like me can still show leg and wear flats at the same time!  I still use the high school rule of skirt hems past the fingertips are a-okay and this stays on the ride of the sassy-skanky border.  Because really, don't we learn everything worth knowing in school?

OOTD: Productive

Last week BF and I decided to have a productive Sunday morning by heading out to a local coffee shop and getting some work done.  He prepared for his work week and I worked on the blog and caught up on the September issues of fashion mags.  Because seriously, September is THE BEST month for magazines -- the InStyle this month is 604 pages!  I'm STILL going through it.

Anyway I wanted something comfy, but a little sassy, so I went with this romper.  I used to be against rompers, but this one was so cute on the rack that I just had to take it home.   I love this outfit because it's comfy but looks totally put together.

If you're ever looking for inexpensive, fun sunglasses, I love the options they have at Cotton On!  They don't have the polka dots in stock anymore on the website, but you can find a similar style here. I can't buy expensive sunglasses anymore because I ALWAYS lose them, so these were a great alternative.

Have a great weekend and thanks for stopping by!

OOTD: Falling

Fall has to be my favorite season.  Yes, I realize that it's probably every blogger's favorite season, but I love the muted jewel tones, the layering and all the fun blazer/sweater/jacket options that come with it.   I mean, I've been DYING to have a blazer with elbow pads on it foreeeeever.  And then I found one at Crossroads.  AND the elbow pads are suede and soft and ah-mazing.  So I just paired it with the 2 most unlikely colors ever.  And I kind of like it.

Please excuse the hair.
