The blazing, humid Chicago heat is a far cry from the temperate climate of the Pacific Northwest.  The heat drive me to light silk dresses paired with cute flats made for walking.  And what better dress to take to an urban jungle than one printed with zebras, tigers and giraffes? (Oh my!)

On the plus side? Ice cold beer tastes all the sweeter in that kind of weather.  And you can bet that I was taking advantage of that.

OOTD: Wearing the Pants

I'm not sure when I started drifting away from wearing dress pants.  I think it might have been when I discovered Anthropologie and all the wonderful things dresses and skirt could do.  But when I want a good menswear inspired look, really the only way to go with bottoms are pants.  For extra flair, I even decided to forgo the normal bow on my top and tie it in a more dude kind of way.  Well, as dude-like as I could manage with a floral shirt.  I've recently picked up a boyfriend watch so that I could stop banging my BFs on walls and scratching it up and whatnot, so maybe that's why I keep going for more streamlined than ruffled outfits as of late.

I totally thought the red shoes would be too Christmassy, but I guess separating the green and the red helped!   Have a good one!  Thanks for stopping by!

I totally dig the ankle jean trend.  I mean, how sexy cool is seeing a little bit of ankle between the hem of skinny jeans and the top of a high heeled shoe?  Too bad my height makes it so that your typical ankle jeans are NORMAL jeans for me.  Which is great.  But not when I want to be sexy cool.

Until I found skinny crops.  And now I can join the club of the of sexy cool ladies everywhere!  Now, who's going to tell me the secret password?

OOTD: Shades of Green

Here's a quick outfit post that centers around green and floral patterns.  I picked up this Mina Dress from Anthro after stalking it for months in hopes that it would go for 75% off.  And so it did and I scooped it up!  It has neat little cut outs in the back that I plan to take full advantage of during hot summer days when ventilation is required.  But we'll save that for another, summery outfit.

OOTD: Mixed Bag

This outfit makes me feel like I took all the fall colors, put them in a bag, shook the bag up and poured it on my clothes.   I think I should use that bag more often!

I know I've been absent lately, but I'm trying this new thing where I just post outfit pictures and type as little or as much as I feel like.  No shopping links, no adds, no extras.  Just pure, outfitty goodness.  That way, I don't feel quite as overwhelmed by the time spent per post as in the beginning of the year.

I'll let you know how it turns out.  Thanks for stopping by!

OOTD: Pure Achiness

So I started a new workout regimen that includes the Barre method -- effectively incorporating ballet moves into concentrated strength training.  It reminds me a lot of yoga in its methodical movement and breathing, but this workout really concentrates on micro-movement of muscles.  Just imagine your worst moment pulsing squats -- and multiply it by 10.

Now, I'm someone that loves high impact sports, so slowing it down is a major feat for me.   But really, you feel the impact of this work out right. away. And unlike other types of strength training, it doesn't debilitate you the next day.  You just feel it when you make a small movement here or there, so it's a lot better going back day to day.

But, I'm sure you didn't come here to listen to me rattle on about some workout routine -- on to the outfit!

OOTD: Black and Pastel

It was an amazing day in San Jose when these picture were took.  A light, non-humid, breezy 80 degrees was the perfect weather to take a walk and run some errands.  We visited the post office, got some coffee and a cupcake and just enjoyed each other's company.  It was just...too good.

I totally managed to score the pleated skirt that was part of the Jason Wu collection for Target.  I have to say that the micro pleats are awesome and flow so amazingly in the wind.  I had a girl at the coffee shop say that she liked my dress, so the outfit must have been so seamless it looked like one piece!  The pops of red really finished the look also.

Since I typically don't take pictures of my bags, I'll talk about the one I'm carrying here.  This is a midi sling from Orla Kiely and I really just fell for the multi colored leaves when I laid eyes on it.  It's great to stylishly tote around my Macbook air, a Moleskine notebook, pens and whatever else without losing too many things.  I pretty much carry this everyday to work and it's a wonderful workhorse staple.

One more day to the weekend!  Thanks for stopping by!
