Fall Wishlist - Part 1

Well, we're heading into fall again.  Let's face it, the fall season is a style blogger's dream.  This transitional season accommodates all the best aspects of summer and winter, plus adds its own flair.  Throw in that feeling of anticipation that is drilled into us by 12-20 years of first days of school, complete with a brand new set of shoes, shirts, pants, skirts and dresses?  How could you NOT associate Fall with the most significant wardrobe change of the year?

Well with New York Fashion Week happening and the blogger community getting all riled up about new styles, trends and whatnot, I've been jonesing to add a few things to my wardrobe for the upcoming season.  I may not get them all, but a girl can dream, can't she?

Chambray Shirt

Chambray's been a pretty big thing all year, but there's something about crisp, fall air that I associate with cowboys.  And cowboys, of course, wear denim shirts all the time!  And since we know that denim matches, well, EVERYTHING, how could you go wrong with a button up on some jean-ish shade?

My search for this one is actually over.  I found one at Target that has army pockets on the chest and roll up sleeves like the one above and I LOVE it.   In fact, you'll see it on the blog for today's outfit, haha.

Red Pants

The red pants trend has been just a BIG FREAKING DEAL this year and I've been wanting some for a fair bit of time.  The added bonus for petite women is that ankle length pants are hitting retailers in a big way -- 29" inseam?  Yes please! I'm thinking that I might want a skinny pair, though a trouser style wouldn't be so bad either.

Leather Jacket

This may just be wishful thinking, but in the last year or so, I've been wanting to get a nice, classic leather jacket.  Ideally, it would be a bomber or motorcycle style in camel or cognac.  There's nothing like a woman wearing a leather jacket that is form fitting -- it's just so chic and can go with pretty much anything!  Now if I can just allocate enough funds to manage the price...

Flat Lace up short boots

I'm loving the lace up booties look with a shorter skirt/dress and tights or over skinny jeans.  Like a leather jacket, it's a great way to up the edge factor on an urban outfit or add a rugged feel to a more feminine one.  I'd love a flat pair in black.

Mirror Shot: Belted Vest

Ok, I will get new batteries for my camera tomorrow, but I had to get a picture of this outfit even if I had to use my work full length mirror in the bathroom to do it. This outfit layers a long vest over a short long sleeve dress and I quite love the look with the knee high boots.

When I found this cute stripey top on sale in the San Diego Anthro, I absolutely had to pick it up and wear it the next day.  It's like those times when you were a kid when you got new shoes and you just HAD to wear them out of the store.  So the salesperson put your ratty shoes in the nice, new shoebox and you wore your shiny ones out of the store.  Anybody else do that?

Anthropologie Fitting Room Reviews

Well, this moving thing is working against all aspects of my blog.  I wore a blog worthy outfit both yesterday and the day before, but since I've been in between places, I found myself both times without a camera.  And today, well -- I'm in sweats.  I suppose I could put that up, but I can't remember half of the outfit details and you'd be bored to death, I'm sure.  So, I'll have to tide you over with some fitting room reviews.  Honestly, these have been sitting on my hard drive for a while, so they're a bit overdue...

Tupelo Dress, $168, Maple, sz 2

Colbalt blue and yellow are two of my favorite color combinations (and no, I didn't go to school in Michigan).  Combine those colors with the fall leaves, and I get some serious grabby hands going on.  I love the unique back on this dress and its made of nice, smooth, comfy silk -- always a plus.  The dress is a touch longer than I typically like, but I'll probably keep on an eye on this anyway for all its other fun qualities.  Then again, I have so many blue dresses….well we'll see.  Probably a 2nd cut item, first if it goes on sale when I'm weak ;). 

Acropora Pencil, $148, Plenty by Tracy Reese, sz 4

The colors on this cute pencil skirt just can't be beat!   I tend to love everything in the Plenty by Tracy Reese line that Anthro puts out and this skirt is no exception.  The cute little buttons on one side of the skirt gives it a little twist.  Length is good with this pencil skirt, though it does seem to run a bit small.  I could zip the size 4 up, but I was having a tad trouble breathing.  If you're interested in this, try a size up.  As with everything with this brand, the price tends to be a bit steep on this item, so I'll have to wait till sale time. 

Calligraphy Strokes Skirt, $118, Sariah Carson, sz 4

I've never heard of this brand before, but this little mustard number is the talk of the blogger community.  I can certainly see why -- this is a very fall hued skirt.  Still, while I like it, it's just not making my heart sing.  Not to mention it's made of rayon and polyester, which always disappoints me in a store like Anthro where I expect fit, quality and breathable fabrics.  Fit is TTS and the length hits just above the knee, which I do like. This will a pass for me -- I have last year's fennel flower skirt in a similar color palette and the pencil shape does more for me I think.  But if you pick this up, it will definitely give a pop to any outfit.

Dotted Dashes Tee, $48, Pilcro, sz XS

This is such a cute tee!  Pilcro takes stripes to the next level by creating them with two rows of dots per line.  This is a basic cotton shirt with some unique details -- I'm digging the ties at the sleeves and the boat neck.  This would be very cute with a blazer and jeans or even with a simple pair of shorts for any lingering hot days.  If you're looking for a basic striped shirt with some detailing, give this one a try.  Fit is TTS.

OOTD: Pleated

This will be a quick one -- still packing.  What else is new?  I'm really digging the micro pleat and it made my list of things to get this season.  But that list is for another post.  All that matters is that I found this amazing camel color one on sale at ASOS and -- miracle of miracles -- it hits above my short, petite knee.  As I spend most of my life fighting to provide the illusion that I am taller, I will be foregoing the midi length skirt trend.  So I was thrilled to find a micro pleated skirt that was 1) on sale 2) an amazingly neutral, but not boring color and 3) above knee length.

Anyway, no more gushing, here's how I wore it.

Hanes Day 5: Riding

Hi folks!

It's been a long week -- packing isn't for the weak and puny!  I have been taking pictures though and I'm happy to say I've finished my little Hanes Crewneck Tee challenge!  Here is the final outfit incorporating my awesome deal of boys t-shirts.  I feel like I'm going to ride a horse.  Not real riding mind you, but the kind of "riding" that models do in photo shoots where they hold the horse's bridle or stand in front of it and take pretty pictures.  Can't actually get my clothes dirty or anything.
