OOTD: An Apple a Day

To tell you the truth, I can't even remember when I actually wore this outfit.  Sometime in the last month per chance?  :P  I'm still loving the apples on this blouse -- apparently I have a thing for clothing with fruit prints. I just bought a skirt from J Crew with peaches on it the other day!

Do you ever wonder why the saying is "an apple a day keeps the doctor away"?  Wouldn't it be the dentist?  I mean with all the benefits apples have on teeth and everything... bizarre.

Today the BF and I walked to our local downtown where there was this amazing wine bar with wine...on tap!  Talk about major aeration of wine there people!  We both got flights and while BF doesn't love wine as much as your truly, all of them had this wonderful smell to them since they had time for the alcohol-y smell to evaporate.  Talk about amazing.  I love living in a city-like place.

Hope you had as great of an evening as I did!  Thanks for stopping by!

OOTD: Crayon Colors

Dry shampoo is my hero.  It eliminates shine and creates volume.  Only problem?  When I'm applying it, I feel like I'm creating crack lines on my head.  Ah well, I suppose you could look at it like hair crack -- I'm pretty addicted!

Apologies for the shot of my less than neat bathroom, but I was in a hurry and really wanted to post this outfit.  It reminds me of primary colors, which in turn, reminds me of crayons!

Hope you're all having a great week!  Thanks for stopping by!

OOTD: Muted

Well, nothing like opposites back to back.  Yesterday's post was about really bright clothing, and today is a much more muted palette.  Sometimes it's fun to wear something kinda preppy with whatever hair and a red lip.

Anyone else think that it's funny I'm wearing cropped jeans as ankle pants?  I'm sure I've talked about this before, but I just can't get over it.

In other news, I heard that Swap-o-Rama, a massive clothing swap, is coming to the Bay Area!  There's one in San Francisco this weekend and another in San Mateo in May.  I'm going to try to go to both!  Who doesn't love free clothing?  If you're planning on going or are interested, hit me up with an e-mail -- would love to meet some of you! Check out the deets here: http://swaporamarama.org/events.htm.

OOTD: In and Out

Work has picked up unbelievably and I've had friends in and out of my house for the last couple of weeks, so it's been hard to get a spare minute.  But now that I have one, I'm going to quickly share this bright, bright, BRIGHT outfit I wore sometime last week (I can't remember when).

So, once again, I am a giant hypocrite.   Here I was, complaining about how dropwaist dresses/skirts don't work for my body type and then I end up going and buying one.  I think it's because the skirt on this one is fairly shirt, which helps with proportion.  Not to mention, the polka dots are AHmazing!

Well, if I can't be a hypocrite here, where else can I be one?  Since fashion's always reinventing itself, I suppose it naturally leads to hypocrisy.  I'll just go with it -- reinvention for the win!

Ok, we just got a Kinect, so I'm off to play Dance Central.  Because I gots no original dance moves.

OOTD: Multi-colored

Sometimes when I need to look extra professional, I go for a more streamlined look than the twee, eclectic one I tend to rock on a regular basis.  This outfit definitely fits the bill with the khaki pinstriped pants, classic pumps and close fit sweater.  What makes it more towards my style however, is the almost random mix of colors.  I'm loving the bold purple, green and orange in this outfit.  What about you?

I got these pumps off of eBay and I sure as heck don't regret it.  This Italian leather business ain't no joke, and the tangerine color is right on trend.  And I don't even care that there are black sharpie lines through the J Crew brand name on the insole!  Whatevs.

OOTD: High Heels and Baggy Pants

You know, I'm really starting to dig the boyfriend jean trend.  Pants that you don't have to worry about not fitting into on a bad bloat day?  I'm in!  Only things is, it's important to balance the outfit out with elements that fight against looking short and frumpy.  This time, I used high heeled platforms!  Forget the fact that I ended up being suckered into setting up for a high school band garage sale while wearing this outfit.  I got more than one giggle while I folded clothes on the ground in four inch platforms.

So one of the reasons I was busy last month is because I turned 29 and there were various weekends of shenanigans!  I'll catch you up some other time, but one of the results of hitting the last year of my 20's is that I started a 30 before 30 list (not to be confused with the Kendi Everyday 30 for 30 challenge).  Basically it's 30 things I want to accomplish before I turn 30.  I plan to keep you all fully abreast of the progress!  I've finally fleshed out all 30 things, so I'll be sharing this week.

Fitting Room Reviews: Sincerely Paris Halter Dress, Fan-cut Iberis Dress, Cloudrose Dress, Cabana Chemise

Step right up, get your Anthro reviews right here, right now!  Let's not waste any time and dive right in, shall we?

Fitting RoomFitting Room

Sincerely Paris Halter Dress, Girls from Savoy, size 4, $148
This cute little dress is covered with postmark stamps that are presumably from Paris.  A departure from the full skirts of previous Girls from Savoy halter dresses, this is a nice springy number with a pencil skirt on the bottom.  I can definitely see how this is a well liked dress in the blogger community.  It's very breathable cotton AND machine washable!  My only con was that the zipper was a bit too exposed for my liking and I would have liked to see a shorter hem -- I like my skirts above the knee.  But taller ladies should appreciate this dress.  Sizing is typical for Girls from Savoy -- ladies in between sizes should size up.  A great staple dress for any wardrobe.  I think I'm going to pass on it due to the length and the fact that it's harder to wear a bra with a halter dress, but definitely give it a go if you're interested.

Fan-cut Iberis Dress, Moulinette Seours, size 2, $168
This is one of those dresses that I really loved in person, but the pictures don't seem to do it justice.  It looks really washed out here, but it really is a nice, springy pattern.  It's silk and reminds me of classic Moulinette Seours -- streamlined, silky material and feminine.  The twist here is the neat cutouts in the front and the back.   It had a great feel and could stand alone or layered under a variety of different cardigans and blazers.  This is something I'd keep an eye on when it hit sale.  Fits TTS to a teeeeny bit big, so ladies in between sizes may want to try both.

Cloudrose Dress, Deletta, size XS, $158
Sigh.  As the cost of natural fibers goes up, I've noticed that many higher end retailers are going with more synthetic material -- this number is made of rayon.  Interestingly enough, I couldn't tell until I looked at the tag!  The dress is very nicely cut and flattering on the body with a nicely cut neck and an above the knee length.  My only gripe is that the scrunching of the pattern at the waist bothers me. I'm not sure why, but it's stopping me from loving this one.  I'm usually an XS in Deletta, so I say go with whatever size you tend to get with this line. This one is a pass for me, but might be well worth it for those who love clouds!

Fitting RoomFitting Room

Cabana Chemise, Saturday/Sunday, size XS, $68
Ah, what a nautical little pretty!  Blue and white stripe with a rope belt -- how could you NOT go sailing in it?  This is one of those great lounge pieces that I could see many ladies in the community wearing as a dress.  And it's made of cotton!  What a great value :).  A few gripes for the petite (or short waisted) -- i hate predefined belted waists because they tend to be below my natural waist.  A belt at the widest part of my body?  No thank you!  Taller ladies might see this one working fabulously for them.  Fits TTS.  This is a pass for me.

What are you looking to pick up?  Hope there's a sale today! Thanks for stopping by :).
