OOTD: Tweeee!

I've started to feel inspired again.

I'm sure this happens to everyone that starts some sort of blog. For the first few months, you're all revved and jazzed and hyped about it. Every spare minute is spent thinking how to nudge this fledgling of a personal commentary space into a full blown part of the Internets and your life. I mean, come on, I wrote a freaking business plan for this thing, for goodness sakes! (I just got out of business school right when I started this blog, gimme a break already :P).

Well, I hit a lull a few months ago (you can probably tell by the lessened frequency of posts). My lack of motivation was encouraged when the Anthroholic scandal hit, and well, I have no good excuse other than sometimes life gets in the way. Anyway, I've started perusing blogs and reading magazines and keeping notes in my array of tiny Moleskine notebooks. Combine that with finding a pretty solid spot for pictures and I think we may be back in business.

Now, if I can just stop myself from wanting to change 23853409132 times a day because whenever I see a good outfit idea I want to change OMGRIGHTNOW...

Hopefully this means an update to the "About Me" section of this blog and an reinstitution of the "Style Challenges". Or maybe I'm getting ahead of myself.

Today's outfit is entirely Anthro, which means that its rather twee.

OOTD: Pajama Top

Something I've always known about myself that's kinda weird: I hate it when my forearms are hot.  This means that anywhere about 65 degrees Fahrenheit, I have to roll up long sleeves.  It's not even a conscious thing.

Today's outfit is brought to you by: Pajama shirts.  I bought this off the J Crew website as part of one of their sale promotions -- mostly because I needed a nice, creamish colored button down and it was made of silk.  Silk is always winner in my book.  Well, when I put it on, it felt and was cut like a pajama shirt.  And, apparently, these said pajama shirts are in fashion!  Case in point, from the Alexa Chung Madewell collection, the Valentine Pajama Shirt:

Aren't I just so trendy?  Check it out:

It's really just the last picture that looks like a pajama top.  What do you think about tucking shirts into pants?  I just don't know if I can get into it -- I'll have to try with higher waisted ones to make an official call, but I'm on the fence.  Thoughts?
In other news, I think I'm zeroing in on an outdoor photo spot.  Yay for shared driveways!

OOTD: Transitioning Seasons

In retrospect, it seems a bit weird to be wearing wedge sandals with a sweater layered over a dress with a cardigan.  It's like the top part of the outfit is ready for cooler days and the bottom part is ready for summery heat.  It's an outfit with an identity crisis.

I guess that's just how I roll.

Can I just say how amazing thrifting is?  Seriously, I got like 3 Anthro things off the half off rack, and I can't stop my mouth from dropping open everytime I think about it.  Bugs keep getting in there.  It's a problem.  I'm really loving open weave sweaters than are light enough to be layered in so many different ways, and this one was just perfect -- especially with the cowlneck.  And it gave me a great way to remix this awesome silky Verdant slip dress!

See?  See how different from last time?  I'm not even orange in today's pictures!

OOTD: In Search of Light

Oversleeping is a big freaking deal now.  I have to deal with train schedules, the fact that I'm more than an 8 minute drive away from work and crack of dawn times.  Which is why I am currently worshiping my new hero: Powder Dry Shampoo.  Yes, I realize that it's pretty much nothing more than nice-smelling baby powder.  But it volumizes and sucks the oil right out of my hair.  Why did it take me so long to get there?  Now no-shower Sundays can be no-shower every other days!  (Er...I mean..I totally shower everyday.  I'm not that person with BO sitting next to you on the train, I swear).

If you couldn't tell, I did wake up late this morning, and it was one of those days where your outfit just pulls together effortlessly.   Yeah, I know you're jealous.  I'm going to revel in it, because it only happens once every 100439238457 years.

Apparently there's something really awesome to my left in some of those pictures -- I keep looking at it.
I'm still in the process of figuring out where the light is the best in the new place.  The stairs may indeed be a contender for indoor pictures.  Still need to find a place outdoors though!

A couple of remixes of this bomb diggity Tucker for Target dress:

Well, off to play Gears of War 3!  Thanks for stopping by!

WDTBD: Jumpity Jump

This is a combo "let me show you the random pictures I took in the last few months" and "oh, I (sorta) know how to use a camera" post.  Alternatively "the jumping pictures" post.  There have been a smattering of trips to other places and visitors to the bay that I've taken pictures at and never posted.  So because I've been absent for a while, here are some shenanigans to entertain you somewhat.  Not all these pictures are mine, some are from another photographer friend's camera.

Lets start in reverse chronological order, because that's how I roll.  My friends came for the week to visit various Bay Area locations.  This particular day was dedicated to watching football, playing Bananagrams and taking ridiculously silly pictures.  What is Bananagrams, you ask?  Well, friend, you're missing out and should check it out here.

Let's start with football.  All of us (well, almost all of us) that were out this weekend are Chicagoans, which by choice, default or force, makes us Bears fans.  So we hiked over to a local bar for some breakfast and big screen TVs.   This was a delicious event, though we got our little tushies kicked by the Saints.  Afterwards, we took pictures just outside the bar:

Full and ready for a nap, we went home and -- huh? -- went to the outdoor mall!  This is what happens when friends from out of town want to spend asmuchtimeaspossibletogether, crankiness be damned.  The next few pictures are shots of some element of what each person was wearing.  I like some better than others.

There was a pretty cool giant chessboard in the area we were in, so we obviously had to play with it.

Seriously, how badass is this picture?

During an outing earlier in August, the same group of people (plus 2, minus 1 -- yes, I realize that's confusing) went camping at Big Bear.  The highlight of the trip, other than spending time together, fire cooking and sleeping in a tent, was a morning bike ride throughout the surrounding area.  A selection of pictures from that outing:

Nothing better than schmexy ladies on bikes!
