OOTD: Roundabout

Whenever I have a hard day at work (or a great day, for that matter), I like to sent an impromptu text to my friends asking if they would like to join me for happy hour.  I got some bites, so I spent some time at Scratch in Mountain View to eat and drink my worries away.  Then (yay for more daylight) we took pictures!

Outfit Details
Blazer: Uniqlo
Top: Forever 21 Swiss Dots & Lace Top
Skirt: J Crew
Shoes: Seychelles Shimmy Peep Toe Pump

Yes, that is indeed me in a roundabout and then me with a motorcycle helmet in a roundabout.  I was finally able to wear the cute polka dotted skirt that the BF got me for my birthday! Didn't he do well?  Only 6 months ago would he pick a skirt under the knee and a non-form fitting shirt for me to wear.  I knew this blogging business was good for something ;).  (Not that I don't love you guys.)

I'm so excited that it's getting warm here!  It was so hot last night I actually had to go downstairs to sleep well.  If you know Cali at all, then you know most places don't have an AC, especially in Northern California.  Rarely do we need it more than a week in the year!  Hopefully the super hot weather won't be a consistent trend, but I am glad for the change in "seasons".

Thanks for stopping by, see ya tomorrow!

Vegas - Part 1

As many of you know, I had a fantastic time this past weekend attending one of my friend's bachelorette parties.  Vegas tends to be well, Vegas, and there was a lot of party and dancing and much less sleep.  We started the trip on Thursday night, where most of the ladies came in and spent the night in one of the Las Vegas suburbs.  We took some pictures and I suffered some light ribbing on my hardcore-ness of my photography, but as you can see, it was well worth it ;).

 Tripods are excellent tools.

 For jumping pictures also!

I love this candid shot of waiting for our ride :).

We spent some time at a friend's place and they surprised me for my birthday!  It was so sweet -- I have the bestest friends.  The cake is from the Nothing Bundt Cakes line and it's red velvet.  Mmm..../drool.  And yes...now you know how old I am.

Mmm...cake.
The bride is a doctor, so she was taking her "medical test" complete with cupcake drawings and flashcards!

We also got our bridesmaid dresses -- they're hot pink, one shoulder dresses.  The strap has giant flowers up the side!  See the sneak peek above.

Then, as normal with any group of girls, we went outlet shopping.  While we all came back with some good steals, I made out like a bandit with my first 2 pairs of 7 for all Mankind jeans!

Stay tuned for more Vegas -- including a chair and pole dancing class, and prepping for a night on the town!

OOTD: Are You Even Old Enough To Know What Those Are?

My manager stopped mid conversation to peer at my shirt today.

Her: Are those mini-typewriters on your shirt?
Me: Yup.
Her: Are you even old enough to know what those are?

I remember my aunt's old suitcase typewriter that I used to open up, put semi-transparent paper in and just type random stuff, imagining that I was an old time writer or something.  It was a grey or greenish color and always slightly dusty.  I love nostalgic memories like that.

Admittedly, I don't really like my outfit today, but in the nature of style blogging, here it is anyway:

Outfit Details
Cardigan: Banana Republic Factory
Top: Anthropologie Keeping Tabs Tee
Pants: Anthropologie Daughters of the Liberation Slim Straight
Shoes: J Crew Abby Flats

Hence the goofy pictures.  These pants are part of the 3 pairs of pants I somehow managed to acquire last weekend.  But that's for another post.

Thanks for stopping by, see ya tomorrow!

OOTD: Tuckered

Apparently, being Fuchsia'ed out means that you keep wearing the color.  Whatever, today was a recovery day and I needed something comfortable and easy and really -- what's easier than a flowy dress and a belt? I apologize for the scrubby looking pictures.  I had a planning fail and forgot that I was playing soccer right after work and had to put my clothes back on sweaty (ew, ew, EW) and take pictures.  For you.  You better be happy. J/k, I still love this whole blogging bit.

I was wearing tights, but even I am not hard core enough to put those back on.  And so...

Outfit Details
Dress: Tucker for Target Signature Dress in Floral Print
Belt: Anthropologie Looping Lanes Belt
Boots: Anthropologie Loose Reign Boots
Glasses: Kate Spade

I am indeed plum tuckered out (is that the expression?) on so many levels.  From my trip, from my recent game and from my Tucker dress! (Haha, get it?)  Play on words is super fun.

Well, that wraps up that.  Thanks for stopping by!

OOTD: Fuchsia'ed Out

Apologies for my absence in recent days.  If you've been following along, you know that I was in Las Vegas this weekend, and while I was able to post on Friday, Sat & Sun were a whirlwind of activity without my computer.  On the bright side, you're likely going to get a smattering of extra posts this week as I talk about the highlights of the trip!

The bride's wedding colors were fuchsia/hot pink, so suffice to say, I'm a tad sick of the color at the moment.  Why did I incorporate it into my outfit today, you ask?  I'm not sure. Some sort of mild sadistic torture for myself, I suppose.  I also just looked it up in the dictionary, and found I've been spelling it all wrong.  How did I actually spell it?  Me to know, you to find out never know.

Outfit Details
Cardigan: Anthropologie Glassflower Cardigan
Top: LOFT
Pants: 7 for All Mankind Gwenevere Skinny Pant
Boots: Anthropologie Loose Reign Boots
Glasses: Kate Spade

I bought these 7's during a trip to the outlet mall for a MAJOR steal.  I also picked up a pair of boyfriend pants because I just couldn't help myself.  The bride and I spent the better part of Sunday petting our pants (no, not like THAT) because they're just that soft.
Glasses tend to make an appearance on days that I'm stressed or overly tired.  Considering the roommate and I flew in this morning at 7:30am qualifies in my opinion.

I had a blast, but it's back to the daily grind (boo.).  What did you all do this weekend?

OOTD: Stripey Leopard

Hello from sunny windy, chilly Vegas! Yes, I've made it out here with my childhood friends from whatever to celebrate one of their bachelorette parties, and it's unexpectedly cold.  Boo.  Now, I understand, I hail from Chicago originally, why am I complaining?  Mostly because it's jeans and boot weather and I'm armed with skirts, sandals and tank tops, with nothing but a light cardigan to shield me from the wind.  Guess it's time to get my drink on.

Here is my outfit for the day (I may have to change tonight ;)).  I've taken the vacation opportunity to wear a short skirt without tights -- something I'm a little less comfortable doing when I'm going to work. And yes, I brought both my DSLR AND tripod -- I'm that hard core.

Outfit Details
Top: Anthropologie Wildest Dreams Top
Cardigan: J Crew Camp Pocket Cardigan
Skirt: Anthropologie Aniseed Skirt
Shoes: Anthropologie Open Space Wedges
Necklace: Anthropologie Tied With A Ribbon Necklace

You can see I got a little creative in the hotel room, for better or for worse.  I was having trouble with the lighting as well, so there were a bunch of neat pictures that I had to throw out, but such is life.  We had a little down time this morning as folks showered and started coming in for the weekend's festivities, so I could do a whole lot of playing with my camera and outfit.  I'm not sure if that's a good thing -- I tend to put together outfits just as well under pressure as when I can take it easy, and it's a whole lot more efficient under pressure.

Itinerary for today is a little shopping, a little gambling and a little seafood at M Buffet.  I'm super excited!  What do you like to do in Vegas?  Any recommendations?

Thanks for stopping by! See you later!

This will have to be a quick post from my phone since the wireless at my hotel is fail. This amazing silk shirt is a second hand find. Last work outfit till after Vegas! Wish me various kinds of luck!

BIrthdays are Fundays

And so begins my journey of being 28 years old. Or, as the BF calls it, the wrong side of 25.  I really feel like I should've taken the day off today, but quite frankly, I forgot that my birthday was coming up until I was reminded during the weekend.  It's all good.  I made sure to leave work a little early to do some me time with a mani-pedi at La Jolie in Palo Alto, which was awesome.  Then we went to a wine bar in Los Gatos called Cin Cin, where I drank wine to my hearts content.

A fair amount of my friends came out to celebrate, even though we told them yesterday night (<3 you guys!) and I had a really good time!  Here's the outfit I wore to celebrate my birthday.

Outfit Details
Cardigan: J Crew Camp Pocket Cardigan
Dress: Anthropologie Spliced Ikat Shift
Belt: Anthropologie Looping Lanes Belt
Shoes: Target Taki Mary Janes
Necklace: Anthropologie

The olive cardigan was one part of a BF present for my birthday.  I was actually just thinking I needed an olive cardigan and Poof! there it was!  I didn't even drop any hints!  BF for the win :D.
At this age, I don't expect a lot of presents from folks.  Frankly, I'd just like them to show up for dinner and pay for a drink or two.  Imagine my surprise when I got a few presents for my birthday after all!  Including:

J Crew Mini skirt, courtesy of my BF -- anyone know the name of this?

Domo-kun slippers! Courtesy of these fine kids:

Aaand amazing kitchen supplies from one of my besties:

Overall, a pretty solid birthday!  Plus, I got these babies in the mail today:

The Anthropologie Open Space Wedges! I was worried about the fit, but it turns out they fit pretty perfectly!  I was hoping I would be able to return them to save some money, but I think they're going to stick it out in my wardrobe.  Super comfy!

Well, I'm pretty sleepy now, so I think I'm going to head to bed.  Hope you all have a wonderful birthday in your near future also!

OOTD: Treading Water

Hi folks!  This is going to be a relatively quick post as I'm trying to get to a bunch of things today.  What with work, prepping for my friend's bachelorette party and my birthday tomorrow, things have been (to say the least) a little crazy.

I think this outfit was inspired by an outfit I saw in a magazine, but I can never be sure.  I bought this cute little navy skirt in the summer of 2009 and it's such a wonderful wardrobe workhorse.  The kelly green coat is an oldie too -- my mom brought it home for me one day from TJ Maxx years and years ago.  And I STILL wear it.  I love green and this coat seems to go with pretty much anything.

Outfit Details
Top: Anthropologie Fountain Overflowing Tee
Vest: Urban Outfittes
Skirt: Anthropologie Today & Tomorrow Skirt
Boots: Zigi Soho Mixer Boots
Belt: Anthropologie Looping Lanes Belt
Coat: TJ Maxx

Well, that's that.  I'll be back tomorrow with a birthday post of some kind.  I still don't know what I'm going to be wearing! Ack!
Thanks for stopping by, see ya tomorrow!

OOTD: What What?

Well, I would try to swear up and down that I'm a gangsta in my outfit today, but what with the floral cardigan and the ruffle boots, I would be a poser if I ever saw one. Northern California is in for a giant streak of rain this week, which tends to turn the weather pretty chilly -- a stark contrast from the relatively nice weather we'd been having in January and February. Normally, the rain would mean EPIC SNOWBOARDING TRIP! However, as it is one of my bestie's bachelorette party in Vegas this weekend, it's more like warmth and EPIC SHENANIGANS TRIP! I'm totally excited natch. I'm told I need a hot pink dress (hence the major shopping trip I went on with the roommie a couple weekends ago), but have been completely unable to find one. I'm going to have to use my ausomu doresushingu powaa to fake this one out. (Awesome dressing power anyone? anyone?)

Outfit Details
Cardigan: Anthropologie Dwarf Quince Cardigan
Top: J Crew
Jeans: Flying Monkey
Boots: Anthropologie Pebbled and Primped Boots
Hat: Stolen (I mean borrowed) from BF

I've noticed that my various pairs of boots have essentially invaded this blog, and it will for the next few days.  As I've said, I hate wet jean hems.  They skeeve me out.  Seriously.  I'll try to shake it up when I post on Vegas next week.

In other news, my birthday is on Wednesday.  I will continue my journey through my late 20's (eep!) with dinner with my friends and whatnot.

Thanks for stopping by, see ya tomorrow!

OOTD: Sometimes Oldies are Goodies

While I love Forever 21 for its trend, lower priced, accessible fashion, I have low expectations of the lifespan of the clothing I buy from there.  If I can get 5 or so wears out of an item, I would call it a win.  That's why every time I pull out this jersey dress from my closet, I'm astounded that it's still perfectly functional.  I bought this dress for something like 10 bucks 3 years ago and its been quite regularly rotated into my wardrobe.  I love the bold blue color, the length, the deep V that allows for all sorts of different camis to be worn under it.  It can be belted, left alone, worn with shoes of a variety of types, or whatever.  And here it is again, the holy grail -- an inexpensive workhorse of my wardrobe:

Outfit Details
Dress: Forever 21
Cami: Guess
Cardigan: Banana Republic Factory
Leggings: Macy's INC
Boots: Anthropologie Pebbled and Primped Boots

It was cold and rainy today. I played soccer for 3 hours in it and was cold to my bones for pretty much the rest of the day.  I tend to wear skirts or dresses plus boots when it rains so that I don't have wet pant hem syndrome, which drives me nuts.  This was a nice, cozy outfit to get me through another work party.

The last picture is something requested by one of my Facebook friends.  See others doing jumping pictures like this here: http://yowayowacamera.com/.  Go Yowayowa!

What do you do to stay warm on cold days?  Thanks for stopping by, see ya tomorrow!
