OOTD: Patterny Patterns

This outfit is inspired by this Anthropologie outfit on the left.  I loved the pattern matching and, while I don't have the exact pieces, the ones I have on seem to work nicely.  Don't you think so?

Close right? I love wearing flats with shorts because I still get leg length while wearing super comfy shoes.

The roommates and I have been looking for a new condo or townhouse to live in because we've acquired a new roommate!  We saw 11 places in the last 5 days.  My head is spinning, but I think we found some awesome potentials.  Still, the time driving around makes it difficult to find time to take pictures and blog, but I'm going to keep trying to hang in there.   You should too!

Thanks for stopping by!

OOTD: Quick Post

This has gotta be a quick one because I'm already late for a Game Night that starts in half an hour.  I need to pick up wings and he lives 15 min away!  It will be a purely hysterical and delicious time.  I personally am bringing Apples to Apples, Cranium, Uno, a deck of cards and Yahtzee.  I know it's geeky, but I love a good game night.  Do you have favorite board games?

Here's today's outfit.  I'm having a mustard moment.  I tend to have these moments every 3 days or so it seems like.

OOTD: A Little Accent Please

I have a confession to make.  I finished 30 for 30 about a week ago, but I lost my Day 30 pictures!  So...I owe you some Day 30 pictures after I recreate the outfit, but I didn't want to deprive you of an OOTD for too long.  So here's a simple, but powerful one made up of sharp accent accessories against a black dress backdrop.  I really think the accents make it!

I actually wore this outfit to a NERF gun fight.  Our friends were moving out of their apartment and invited everyone over for drinks and shooting NERF guns in an empty apartment.  I have to say, it was pretty sweet, and my friend took some awesome pictures with his DSLR.  When he shares some, I'll be sure to post the most awesome-est for you all to see!
Have a good week!  I'll get you the last Day 30 tomorrow!

Fitting Room Reviews (Dresses): Wavering Grid, Take Action, Dynamic Zigs and Drafting

More fitting room reviews!  Let's take a look, shall we?

Wavering Grid Dress, XS, Deletta, $148
The theme of this post should be – midi dresses are not for me.  This nice comfy jersey number by Deletta just overwhelms my petite frame.  The girl in the model shot must be 10 feet tall to get this dress to be so far over her knees!  In any case, I like the contrasting design on the waistline, and for ladies that this dress type flatters, I could see this being an easy pull on and go type of dress.  Go with your regular Deletta size on this one – typically that skews towards the smaller size because I’m in between S and XS.

Dynamic Zigs Dress, S, Plenty by Tracy Reese, $$89.95
This one went on sale before I could review it! This is another dress that’s skirt overwhelms me.  I like the criss cross pattern as well as the criss cross the top part of the dress makes across the chest. Fits TTS The color palette is fun and could be paired with many different cardigans and blazers.  It’s pullover styling, so this is another pull on and go dress.  This is a pass for me, but I could see someone with some height rocking this.

Take Action Dress, 2, Girls of Savoy, $168 (yellow color)
I’ve already reviewed this dress, and it looks like it’s been taken off the site (sold out!?), but here’s the review anyway.  Similar to the blue, the high collar and elastic waist along with the silky material makes this dress an amazing clothing workhorse.  The little squiggles are a nice departure from the polka dots and the length is wonderful.  You may consider sizing down as I was able to go all the way down to a 0 on its blue colorway cousin.  Unfortunately, it doesn’t really work for me in this color as it fades me out a bit.  Still, a fantastic option if you weren’t crazy about the blue colorway.

Drafting Shift, 4, Tabitha, $158
A cousin to the Pom Flower shift, this dress has the same burlap-y feel to it with a different design.  The fit is similar as well.  I gave the Pom Flower raving reviews for fit, length and the Drafting Shift is no different.  Fantastic length for a petite woman (right at the knee) and the material on the inside is not scratchy at all.  Fits TTS.  I just have so much blue/green in my wardrobe that this will be a pass for me.  If you weren’t digging the design on the Pom Flower Shift and this one floats your boat, I highly recommend it!

So what do you think of this batch?  Anything you have your eye on?  I, for one, am loving the new Fall arrivals and am jonesing for this:

Oh, Forested Blazer, please somehow wander into my closet!  The price is so, so much though, so I may need to stalk it for a long time before it becomes mine.

What I Wore

Readers, I had the amazing opportunity to trek up to the city of San Francisco to meet Jessica Quirk from What I Wore.  If you don't already read her blog, she started a daily fashion blog in 2007 while living in New York City.  4 years later, she's moved to Bloomington, IN and is making clothes and has published a style book!  It's called What I Wore: Four Seasons, One Closet, Endless Recipes for Personal Style.  Well, she's on book tour now and thanks to the Azalea boutique and ShopItToMe, Jessica made a stop in San Francisco to chat with her readers and sign books.  Let's go to the pictures!

Jessica styled 2 mannequins that you could put your name in for a raffle to win!  I like the red one the best, but unfortunately, I didn't see it until I submitted my name for the blue one :/.

What I Wore
And what fun would it be if I didn't get a picture with the lady herself?  I'm so short she's so tall!

What I Wore

The book itself is pretty fun -- lots of illustrations Jessica drew herself and a smattering of some of her daily outfit pictures.  The main pieces of the book discuss building you closet with solid basics and supplementing with fun, maybe on trend, pieces.  She then talks about how to remix  these pieces to work for you season to season.  It's a pretty fun, informative read.  If you're interested in purchasing it, you can look for it on Amazon for sure.  I think other places sell it as well.

Azalea was a pretty, high end boutique with a wide array of clothes, skin care products and shoes.  They had a ton of jeans including Adriano Goldshmeid (also carried by Anthro) and Cheap Monday.  And the best part? They gave 20% off new arrivals for the folks that came to the party!

It was a super fun event and I was more than happy to go. What do you think?  Anyone coming with me next time?

Thanks for stopping by!

Day 29: Beat the Heat

The weather here has been so sporadic.  Day 29 was super duper hot, and definitely called for shorts.
I have difficulty accessorizing during really hot weather because my skin is really sensitive to metal and breaks out into attractive red hives.  This necklace has a leather strap, which makes it ideal for a person like me.  This is why I also gravitate towards scarves, especially silky ones, when I feel I want to shake up an outfit.  Do you have anything about you that hinders your fashion desires?

Days 27-28: Grasping at Straws

I remember this happened the last time I did 30 for 30.  I spend the last 5 or so days scraping for outfit ideas.  Of course, that's where the real creativity comes in (but.it's.so.HARD!).  Like, for example, Kendi turning a scarf into a cardigan in this post.  It took everything I had not to just straight up copy.  Well, actually, I do intend on straight up copying her outfit.  But not now.  It's too soon -- I'll just wait the appropriate amount of time for something to go out of fashion and back in fashion.  That's about 30 days right?

Anyway, I decided to go for a headband with this outfit.  Kinda preppy, but with a splash of polka dotted yellow fun.  So, here's me playing some awkward air guitar and proving to my mom that I do not, in fact, ever brush my hair.

And on day 28, a new way of wearing a scarf!  It's basically the same knot as when you 1) Fold the scarf in half and 2) pull the ends through the loop created.  Except this time, I only pull one end through the loop and then just do a loose tie with the two ends.  When I wear a scarf like this, it feels like I'm wearing a cravat.  Is that a thing?  The ones that our founding fathers wore that made their necks look poofy?

A few more fun things.  I'm totally going to the eye doctor today (whoo!) and I have a veryextraspecialpost coming up about when I met What I Wore's Jessica Quirk (squee!).  It was super exciting and I had to trek up to San Francisco yesterday to do it, but it was totally worth it.
Stay tuned!  Thanks for stopping by!

Day 26: BIllowy Sleeves

I admit it -- this picture is taken inside only because I'm suffering from blogger exposure syndrome.  Namely, ohmygodmyneighborsareoutsideandthinkI'macrazypersonfortakingpicturesoutsidemyapartmenteveryday embarassment.  I've gotten photo session crashed by their high school age kids a couple times and I'm positive they think I'm a nutter.  Yes, a nutter -- I'm watching Leap Year and have taken on some Irish sayings.

This dress is highly versatile and well worth my money.  I can pretend it's a skirt and top by adding a belt or layer various shirts, sweaters and cardigans over and under it.  Mustard is one of my non-neutral "neutrals", so I can wear it with anything.  Do you have any  of those?  Some of my others are military green and cobalt blue.

Okay, so we're counting down the days -- 4 more left!  Thanks for sticking with me and stopping by!
