OOTD: Smattering

This is going to have to be a quick post because there are chores to be done and errands to run.  (Haha, that rhymed).  I like this dress because it looks like a smattering of paint splotches and it matches will a bunch of different colors.  Sometimes it's just fun to pick a different shade of a color of a print and wear that with the print piece.  There are lime green accents in the pattern and the kelly green in the cardigan complements it nicely.

Welcome to a new area in my current place!  I once again didn't get to taking pictures until after the light and the normal indoor place is now blocked by boxes.  So now you get to see an assortment of shoes and hats.  Fun stuff, I know.  Well, off to the next thing!

Thanks for stopping by!

Hanes Day 4: Late to the (culotte) Party

I picked up these culottes from Anthro while I was in San Diego when I had nothing better to do but wander the malls in the area.  They were on 3rd or 4th cut and had the most amazing pear pattern on them, which is what prompted me to try them on.  I never really liked the way other culottes looked on me -- I think it was the weird length in conjunction with the general flowiness of the legs.  But as I stared at them in the mirror I had a realization.  They're JUST like a mini skirt!  With legs!  So you don't have to deal with the awkward rubyourlegstogetherwhenitshotandsweatyout syndrome.  Well, just turn the paradigm on its head and I guess I'm sold, because I took them home.

Since it was my last day and I decided to go to a steakhouse (plus I just picked up the Urban Decay eyeshadow ammo box), I decided a smoky purple eye was the way to go.  Throw on a contrast scarf over the Hanes T-shirt and we're good to go.

Hanes Day 4: Late to the Party

Sorry for the distinct lack of pictures, but my camera ran out of batteries and I stupidly forgot the battery charger.  I made up for it with a hair whipping shot.  You'll just have to make do.
And since I just got the shorts and you'll get a Hanes T-shirt recap later this week, here's some of the remix shots including the Mossimo Pearce pumps:

Hmm. Apparently I got a tan, because my legs don't match the tone of the shoes for this week's shoot compared to my remix shoots.  Ah, summer.

Hanes Day 3: Classic Spin + Bonus Outfit

Thank goodness for free public WiFi in airports.  With the bar overflowing and a bottle of iced tea costing $4, SOMETHING has to be free around here.  And now I get to do a little bloggity blog before I boardity board.

As I was driving around my rental car, which by the way was a GIANT FREAKING SUV that made it difficult to see my blind spots to the right with the side mirrors in the way, I got to experience XM Radio.  This is not a new thing by any means because most rentals have this on them and I do travel a fair bit.  Considering that they crap out when you come within a 10 ft radius of a parking garage, I wouldn't recommend it for every day use.  That said, I DID find the 2K Pop hits radio station.  What does that mean?  I can relive my college days all over again AND feel old because there's a station dedicated to hit songs that came out between 2001-2010.   I wanted to protest putting a decade behind us and bringing it back no less than a year after we left it, but then I heard this song.  And I was sedated by the bubble gum pop of my youth and could protest no more.

This is Day 3 of the unofficial Hanes T-Shirt challenge.  I say unofficial because i decided to do it as I was writing the first post featuring one of the T-shirts in this pack.  I did, however, alter this shirt as well.  I cut a nice little V into the collar.  This really meant no more than folding the dang thing in half, lining up the seams and cutting diagonally from some point in the middle of the shirt diagonally (/cough.  just thought about Harry Potter.  Ok, back to our regularly scheduled programming) using a piece of paper as a guide.  When my roommate asked what would happen if I messed up, I said that it was a $1 loss if I fail and stopcurbingmycreativespiritdangyou thank you very much.

Oh wow, how did I invoke the spirit of the (still living) Chloe of the chloe conspiracy?  Excuse me, I'm better now.

OOTD: Easy Peasy, Lemon Squeezy

Hi there readers, long time no see!  Sorry about falling off the face of the planet, but I'm out in San Diego this week for training.  While my hotel is AWESOME in its ambiance and location, it's one of those joints where everything costs extra -- parking, internet, whathaveyou.  Since there area few other business and personal things I need to take care of, I finally sucked it up my second to last day here and paid (yes, PAID) for internet service.  But, the good news is, you get some outfits!  Rest assured, even with falling off the grid, I have been taking outfit photos.

So without further adieu, here's what I wore on Monday this week.  I always forget to pack SOMETHING when I go on a trip, and this time it was a couple of belts.  It may not seem like a big deal, but if you go through my archives, I love belts quite a bit and wear them often.  So, I had to go with a much more simple outfit.  On the bright side, maybe the day without a belt at my disposal helped curb my belt addiction.  (On second thought -- I did go out a buy some belts from Forever 21, so negatory on curbing my addition :)).

I had to bring a point and shoot with me on this trip because I didn't have room for the DSLR.  Which means I forgot the connecty thingy (yes, it's a technical term) that screws onto the camera to mount it on my tripod.  So, you're stuck with a backdrop of my hotel room for all the pictures from this week.  You'll live, don't worry.
Also, since I've built up enough of an outfit archive, I'm going to try to show other ways some of the pieces in my outfits have been worn in the past.  We're all for remixing and whatnot, right?

OOTD: Playing with Length + Hanes Day 2

Packing is a crazy pain, which is why I hate moving.  Our apartment is littered with boxes and half empty shelves.  It seems like no matter how much I pack, there's still so much stuff that needs to be put away.  What is it about putting things in boxes that makes possessions multiply before you can pack them squarely away?

Anyway, I had a short workday today so I decided to pull on some shorts and continue my Hanes t-shirt challenge.  I cut off the crew neck part of it to make an off shoulder shirt, and it turned out pretty decent!  Then I threw on a long vest that's hem goes past my shorts in an effort to play with length.  I think I like it.

I was also asked to show what my shoes looked like from yesterday's post.  And since I'm so obliging, here they are:

Much higher by themselves then when they're worn under pants right?  (haha, underpants).  I <3's them.

OOTD: Morning Leaves

I've been wearing a lot of skirts, dresses and belts lately, so I decided to mix it up a bit with some jeans.  One of my biggest issues with pants is their length, especially ones with flared bottoms like these.  If I hem them, the flare ends up at a weird place.  So, I'm pretty much stuck with leaving them the length they are and wearing some mega high heels.  These wedges did the trick AND I look tall!

Readers, you get more pics this time around because the BF was home to take them!  He takes much better pictures of me (mostly because he takes 30 to 40 at a time) than I can take with my contrived poses by myself.  I'm a dork and sometimes scroll through them really fast and look all animated.  Maybe I'll make an animated gif some time to show you.  Hehe.

By the way, I'm headed to San Diego on business next week.  Any recommendations on where to go/eat?

OOTD: Madmen

Madmen has made it into instant play rotation on Netflix and naturally, I've started watching it.  Seeing all the period fashion compelled me to pull out (of course) my good old Reed Shirtdress.  I forgot how flattering the silhouette is.  What do you think?  Could I work as a secretary at an ad agency in the 1950's?  Though I don't think I'd want to deal with that kind of male dominated work place...

Today is the BF's "last day of summer' before he starts working at a local high school, so we grilled up some grass fed tri-tip.  It tasted so amazingly delicious, that I had to share pictures!

Dinner consisted of tri-tip, pickled cucumbers (is that redundant?) and brown rice.  Throw in some red wine and you've got a nice, chill night for sure.

OOTD: Basic White + a Challenge!

You know, I used to pick up little boys shirts and little girls pants all the time to be part of my wardrobe.  Because let's face it, I'm a tad vertically challenged.  I ended up giving up on this -- mostly because robbing children and leaving them half naked tended to rub people the wrong way.  Less importantly, as I developed curves, childrens' clothing just wasn't as flattering as women's clothing.

I take it all back.  I couldn't resist picking up a 5-pack + 1 free package of large boys' Hanes crew neck shirts from Target the other day and they are just too fantastic.  They're totally comfortable and hug my assets just as well as other t-shirts aimed at women.  Plus, they're $6!  Not just for one, but for the entire freaking pack.  That's some deal people!

I'm so thrilled about their potential, that I'm going to throw down a 6-day Hanes Boys' Crew Neck T-shirt challenge.   I'm going to go through my entire pack of Target-bought Hanes t-shirts and come up with 6 different outfits.  Minor alterations are acceptable (in fact, I'm planning on cutting the collar off of one already).  Anybody want to go in on this with me?  I'd be happy to share some reader photos!  Consecutive days are not necessary, but the goal is to complete the challenge by the end of August.  So got $6?  Head out to Target and join me!  (Or just find a white t-shirt or two or six that's already in your closet -- totally acceptable).

OOTD: Weekend Recap

It's been a crazy crazy weekend. Friday was a fun time of hanging out at neat San Francisco bars. including Mad Dog and Madrone.  The first was a neat, chill bar with delicious beer.  The second a self-declared art bar which had a cool vibe and delicious, rather strong, drinks.   So forgive me if I didn't get a chance to get these pictures up till now.

This outfit is kinda a hodge podge of patterns.  I couldn't decide whether I loved or hated it.  In retrospect, I think the patterns went well together.  Though that COULD just be me justifying something that i cant change.  You be the judge!

Sorry about the orange-y pictures -- we didn't get back until after dark.   This is an interesting take on my alma mater colors -- I went to University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign.  Go orange and blue! (This wasn't actually intentional or anything, I just went with it.)

OOTD: In and Out

Today you get 2 backdrops.  And no, it's not because I'm an enterprising, picture-taking fiend.  It's because my neighbor caught me in the middle of my photo shoot and today I gave into the urge to bold inside.  Having not taken enough pictures, I continued my shoot inside.  Does that happen to other bloggers?  Am I not alone?

I'm pretty sure these items were all in my first 30 for 30 -- and I don't think I actually wore this outfit.  Outfit 31 for the win! I'm going to celebrate by watching the DVR'ed episode of So You Think You Can Dance's season finale!  I'm so excited to see everyone dancing -- don't tell me what happens!
