Yesterday I went to Fashion Tech's panel on "How Technology is Changing the Face of Fashion". I don't know if you guys know this, but I'm an engineer as my day job. This panel was just such a fantastic marriage of two things that I really love! There were speakers from Polyvore, ModCloth, BetaBrand and Google, and they just had some really amazing, interesting things to say.
I made many a silly comment during the panel on Twitter, but I'll leave you with the speakers' answers to the question "In 5 words or less, what advice would you give to others working in startups"?
- Vineet Buch, Group Product Manager, Google: "Must be present to win." (Doesn't matter if you thought starting a search engine in 1995 was a good idea if you didn't do it!)
- Jess Lee, Co-Founder and VP of Product, Polyvore: "Do one thing really well."
- Colin Stuart, Co-Founder and CTO, Betabrand: "An evil, multinational company must start somewhere."
- Katie Garlinghouse, VP of Marketing, Modcloth: "Keep an ear on your customer."
And now, on to my outfit:
Outfit Details
Top: Hanes Boys Tee via Target (buy here)
Cardigan: French Connection (similar Target here, Coldwater Creek here)
Jeans: AG Angelinas via Anthropologie (buy at 6pm.com here, Amazon here)
Shoes: Anthropologie Brimming Button Heels (similar Boutique 9 here, Madewell here)
Necklace: Work Play Date (sorta similar here)
I am completely in love with my tie necklace. It's boyish AND sparkly! Now I just need to hem my pants...
Thanks for stopping by!
Sounds like an awesome panel! If i were up there, I would totally go.
ReplyDeleteIt was a hike for me too since it was up in SF. I had a great time! If you're in town and you're interested, maybe we can go to one. (not like you'd be here to visit ppl or anything :P).
