Day 4: Of Stripes and Silk Collars

I had one of my first self conscious moments today as a blogger.  As I was taking pictures outside, on of my neighbors walked by.  I was all -- Ack! They must thing I'm a weird narcissist taking pictures outside my apartment!  While I'm sure it's all paranoia on my part, the side effect was that I became all nervous, making it more difficult to take good pictures and pressuring me to wrap up my shoot before the neighbors began peering strangely at me from their apartment.  Fellow streetstyle bloggers, have you ever had that problem?  Or are y'all born ready and confident to randomly take pictures of yourself in public with a tripod?  I know, I just need to get over it -- and I will.  I just wanted to take a moment to have a freak out session.  Thanks for sticking with me :).

I got the Fifth Form Shift off EA's Trade Market with a broken zipper (Yes, I knew about it).  I finally got it back from the tailor fixed!  I'm so excited -- I had my eye on this in early 2010 and just never pulled the trigger before it pulled out.  I pre-emptively included it in my 30 for 30 without trying it on, so I'm really glad it fit.  I'm going for a more casual look in honor of the weekend:

Dress: Anthropologie Maeve Fifth Form Shift
Shirt: J Crew Silk Collared Boat Neck
Scarf: Old Navy
Tights: Gap
Booths: Anthropologie Miss Albright Pebbled and Primped Boots

 Check out the rufflez!

Action Shots don't work so well with the timer function...

I think it's really weird that when I take pictures in the middle of the day, they come out darker than when I take pictures at dusk.  I've heard of the "magic hour" which typically is an hour right around when the sun rises or sets, and there's probably something about the light at those times that make picture taking perfect.  I'm a camera newb, so I'm not sure what those elements are yet.

I've started watching Grey's Anatomy recently on Netflix.  I have this terrible tendency to pick up shows waaaay after they start airing, many times after they've been cancelled.  Shows like Better Off Ted (OMG, I looooove that show) and Terminator: Sarah Connor Chronicles were like that and I was so sad to find that there aren't anymore being made.  One of the other funny side effects of this is when I look at fashion magazines.  I finally know how Ellen Pompeo got famous!  It was weird -- I kept seeing her in different magazines and articles, but never knew what she is in.  And I was too lazy to find out.

Anyway, I'm really excited about this weekend.  Hopefully I'll have some cool pictures to show you in the next couple days.

Thanks for stopping by, see ya tomorrow!

  1. Lovely to "meet" you and thanks for your comment on my blog!
I love the way you rock your stripey dress.
You made me laugh with your confession that you watch tv shows WAY after they air - that's totally me too. I recently discovered Chuck and its awesome. He reminds me of my little brother!

  2. Thanks for commenting!

Is Chuck canceled? My brother really liked it and I've been meaning to get into it (for like the past year :P). If it's canceled, I guess that means it's on my list of shows to watch :P.
