EBEW: Drapes

Given my height, a whopping 5'0", it's taken me a long time to come around to a lot of things.  Maxi dresses and skirts; drapey, long material -- anything that could potentially make me look shorter.  I tend to go for more streamlined silhouettes in an attempt to make myself look taller.  This got especially important to me after the freshman 15 and other such aftermath.  But, you really just can't beat the maxi look sometimes -- it's comfy, surprisingly summery, and is a neat change of pace once and a while.  And this time, at least there is an army of other bloggers to do it with me!  Thanks Everybody, Everywear!

Yes, I'm wearing the Neo Refinement Pullover again.  So? Cost per wear people! Cost per...wash? Shhh....

Outfit Details
Top: Anthropologie Neo Refinement Pullover
Skirt: Bought in Italy (2003)
Belt: Vintage
Shoes: Anthropologie Open Space Wedges

I got this skirt when I lived in Pisa, Italy in 2003.  I kept it for years and years and years and never wore it, but couldn't bear to throw away my souvenir while it still fit.  Then I pulled it out one day after I moved the Bay Area, and now it's in my regular wardrobe rotation?  Funny how that works huh?  I love the uniqueness of the opening in front.

Well, that's all for now folks!  Thanks for stopping by, see ya tomorrow!

  3. This skirt is AWESOME! I was wondering if you pulled and tucked to make it drape like that or if you bought it that way. Crud, I was hoping I could figure out how to do something like this :P

  4. @Charee - Thanks! EBEW is so fun with all the different takes on things.

@kristin - The asymmetry actually came out better than I expected. This was really an experiment for me :).

@Dana - It's actually an extra strip of fabric that can be pulled into two rings connected on the side of the skirt. You can probably add it yourself if you're crafty like that, but mine came like this.

  5. This is wonderful! I love the colors and the drape-i-tude!

I'm like you, I have a bunch of pieces that sat around for years before I did anything with them. Maybe they had to ferment before they looked good enough to wear. Or maybe I'm the one who's fermenting. :/

  8. These blogs are so deceiving. I never know how tall of the ladies I follow are. I wouldn't guess, looking at these photos, that you would need to worry that you are to short to pull this off. You look tall and statuesque!

  9. @Becky - Haha, drap-i-tude, that's awesome. I'm sure it's just your clothes fermenting, not you. Now make sure they don't rot! :D

    @Tiffany - Thanks!

@Monique - Hehe, nothing like wearing curtains once in a while ;).

@Linda - Tall and statuesque is a new one for me, I'm flattered you think so! I so look forward to EBEW every month, I'm glad you and your cohort put it together. Keep up the good work!
